Trump Administration Part 2

I made no such take but you know that. Consider yourself up one internet point. Congrats.

One of the more evil bits of propaganda that we have been subjected to is that we have to solve the evils of capitalism through individual consumer actions.

“American culture is rotten to the core”. ->. “Why would anyone have a problem with Amazon” has to be one of the most egregious examples of doublethink In the history of the forum.

We don’t have to, but it helps.

No one saying your consumer choices matter ever says not to do whatever else you’re thinking of doing.

This is so insane that we literally cannot apply the same concept to our actions that we apply to voting, regardless of it being brought up 10,000 times now over the years

Your individual vote changes nothing, but if everyone decided ok then don’t vote, that changes things

Your individual action changes nothing, but if everyone decided ok my action changes nothing, then, then nothing changes

You can’t apply one thing to one but not the other. That’s dumb as shit. Just say you like your consumer thing and you don’t mind voting

lol. It’s so boring watching people desperately try to score internet points. Congrats. One for you too.

I of course made no claim remotely like why would anyone have any issue with Amazon. But you too know that.

Just curious if you get mad at ppl for not voting

Your consumer choices matter in the abstract, and sometimes when there is collective action they can matter in more ways than abstract. However, the voting analogy is a good one in that both are pretty worthless if that’s all you do and you use those actions along to convince yourself you are effecting change.

Not necessarily him and I know you know, but a reminder that this forum lost its mind and banned Sabo largely because he didn’t think voting helped.

You’re an environmentalist who doesn’t understand why Amazon would be singled out?

They are the epitome of what is wrong with consumer culture.

Their methods can’t be justified unless they translate to a greener future and I’d love for someone to enlighten me on how that’s the case.

Come on man this is some serious revisionist history. Thats not remotely why sabo was banned. :grinning:

I’m going to forego getting my loved ones new gifts at major retailers and buy them a Smokin’ Aces DVD, a marked-up 2017 SAT prep book, a local rec league basketball jersey, and an 802.11g router at Goodwill.

My point wasn’t Amazon is great for humanity. My point was there is nothing special about Amazon. Before Amazon it was Microsoft. Before that is was US steel. Before that standard oil.

Amazon does lots of evil shit but if Amazon didn’t exist it would just be some other mega corporation doing the evil shit. The real issue is how evil mega corporations are treated in America.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha

Straw man

My point was there is nothing special about Amazon.

They destroy hundred of thousands of products a year and their workers piss in bottles.

Amazon does lots of evil shit but if Amazon didn’t exist it would just be some other mega corporation doing the evil shit.

Congrats, you’re now a conservative.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz

Lmao at you not knowing shit about Amazon and still chiming on the matter.

It’s not the reason that the people who went insane over it and relentlessly called him a troll would give, no.

I just don’t see what good you’re possibly doing. Getting into your car or on a bus to purchase an item from somewhere else has literally zero impact on Amazon even if you did so for the rest of your life. Even if every single person never ordered another item from Amazon, they’re big enough now to just buy up another industry that you can’t avoid being a consumer of (this is already the case)

This isn’t like saying one vote doesn’t matter, or one person reducing their carbon footprint won’t help. Boycotting Amazon is literally a futule exercise. In fact, I’d surmise that a single individual’s vote for a Democratic Socialist could potentially do more harm to them than a lifetime boycott ever could

We need to stop flailing at symptoms and start first recognizing, and then fighting, the actual causes of our dystopian society imo
