I was the only immature pervert giggling to myself as far as I could tell. Everyone else seemed in proper museum mode.
Knew it was from the beginning. Had a super short wait flying back last Christmas because of the amount of people who had it.
Or that was Global Entry. Whatever. Itâs the story of what happened to FastPass at Disney.
Iâve been in some lounges that had two sections for different levels of VIP or first class vs. business class or whatever. Soon they might all be like that.
Just took the kids to Legoland for spring break. Theyâve got 3 levels of FastPass (they call it Reserve and Ride, but itâs basically the same thing), which are advertised as cutting down your wait by 50, 75, and 90 percent. Also for every ride there is a cut to the front immediately option for a fee.
Theyâve definitely stratified it enough that not everyone goes for the top level. And on days that are not busy, all 3 levels are roughly equivalent (only few min difference per ride at most, sometimes none).
My favorite part of the trip was when we were in the line for the people with one of the two lower levels of fast pass. And then someone comes in with a higher level and is escorted past our pretty short line.
As this happens some approximately 6 year old starts yelling âTheyâre cutting us! Theyâre cutting us!â. As his parents calmed him down, I was hoping that they explained to him that he was also cutting in front of all of the people that were in the regular queue. Sadly, I donât think that was the approach that they used.
Seems more reasonable. Thought Disney tried something similar before FastPass and it was not that effective. Honestly, the story of it was kind of fascinating.
Really long though
I think the best CC Points fleece I remember was a story from someone at the Aussie Millions like 12 years ago when the Chase Sapphire card first came out.
For whatever reason you could buy in for the $25k main with a CC with no fee, and it accrued 3x points. So someone would get cash from a friend, by them in with his CC, pay off the balance, and get 75k points per entry.
Manhattan sidewalk âcoming throughâ trip report:
#1) (Imagine 6 columns are possible on one SW) an approaching group is taking up columns 1-5, Iâm also in c5, gruess in c6. I CT well in advance and right at the last second column 5 disappears and we pass through. 7/10.
#2) I really mess up here, Iâm in c6, gruess c5, I see the CT too late and say it too late, wife smacks into me, c5 smacks into wife, everyone is unhappy. 3/10 would be lower if wife was knocked down or we got yelled at but they just shuffled on.
#3) Very large and loud/distracted group walking towards us taking up all 6 columns (!), Iâm on the inside this time and wife and I see it coming a mile away. I bellow my CT, brace myself, c6 sees it coming and vanishes and c5 eats the entirety of my 2-bills hip and shoulder and I send them flying/spinning and we walk through them. 8/10 as I didnât knock them down, spill anything they were carrying, or get an apology or any other noises.
Good trip there was also some theater and food and art there.
WTF is CT?
coming through, I think
Are you on one of those rental scooters or something?
First time ever for me being on a flight struck by lightning this morning. I am not a nervous flier, but jeez, it had me texting loved ones. Really, really loud flash bang, followed by some shaking/turbulence. It is really incredible how safe these flying tubes are to withstand these things.
Pretty safe unless someone forgets to tighten down a bolt, engine, or wheel.
were you still on the ground or in the air?
In the air. About 30 mins out from landing.

A bit of a dramatic retelling (not mine): https://www.reddit.com/r/delta/comments/1bztte6/lightning_hit_our_plane/. I donât remember many screams. Mostly silence and people looking around and at each other. âWhite as a ghostâ also seems unfair to the pilots, who Iâm sure handled it very professionally and within their training.
Itâs truly insane a plane can take a lightning strike and just keep going. We shit on Boeing but thatâs some incredible engineering!
Poeâs law
Thought Iâd give this 10 mins or so and ended up watching the whole thing. As you say, fascinating.
The lines for the Delta lounge at JFK. One side is business class and the like. The side stretching far into the distance that has to be an hour wait is Sky Priority.
I donât even care about any of the perks, I just waited hoping the AC was actually working, unlike the rest of the airport. Itâs not. The wifi is also barely working.
Airports should start charging for the seats in the airport terminal like theyâre metered parking. Reserve a premium seat right next to your gate for a fee, make it so food/drink can be ordered to your seat Iike youâre at club level football seats. Now everywhere is a lounge.
