If people got into this thread from the posts moved from LC, I’d encourage you to go to the top of this thread and read the first 50 posts or so (and keep reading if you want to). There is a lot of good discussion that has already happened, and a lot of what is going on in recent posts is just rehashing that.

I only want to discriminate against trans women and girls, not men… that’s not the strong argument you think it is.
When POC tell us that something that they experience every day is probably racist, we take their word for it. When trans people and folks with trans family tell you that this shit is transphobic because they’ve seen it for years, maybe consider that they have a point and the uninformed hot takers itt have some work to do on themselves.

On terminology and the thread title.
“Trans women are women” is similar to
“Black people are people” or
“Retired women are women”
It’s a statement that they are a legitimate part of the larger group, not that they dont have traits, interests and characteristics that arent better discussed using appropriate umbrella terminology.

Yeah, as you note no parents want fairness. They want the best for their kids. They want their kids to have the opportunity and achievements.
This expert opinion was posted earlier in this thread
If you go to mosdef’s link, a reason why it’s not based on published data is that the majority of published data looks at trans non-athletes, who in many cases may have been intentionally trying to reduce muscle mass prior to transitioning.
Thoughts on this expert’s opinion?
