TJ plays a ton of poker in Vegas for WSOP! ...And occasionally eats

Lame! Thread not delivering.

Epic or disaster. There is no mediocre. Capiche?

At the airport waiting for my flight! I’ve never actually been to the airport here in Raleigh…. It’s nice, and a LOT smaller than the Atlanta airport (obviously)

From drop off to check in to security to my gate was less than 20 minutes, which is nice.

Im spoiled by growing up in Atlanta with Hartsfield-Jackson and direct flights everywhere…. I gotta connect Raleigh to Dallas-Fort Worth to Vegas, so about 8 hours travel time when a direct flight from Atlanta was just over 4 hours. At least I’ve got a good book!

Came for craps stories. Wrong TJ apparently.

Gonna do my best to stay out of the pit…. Got wrecked at the craps table on my last casino trip

The first flight’s only about a third full, got a whole row to myself

I flew raleigh to vegas direct before

Put it in the brag column

Caught a gorgeous sunset at 38,000 feet

I don’t get to fly often, but I always get a window seat for the view.

On the ground at DFW! Grabbed a brisket quesadilla at Salt Lick BBQ in the airport, it was meh. A bit too fatty a cut of the brisket

About to board to LAS!

The jmakin TR has set the unstuck Vegas TR standard. It’s a high bar, but you know what you have to do.

Lucked out again on the 2nd leg and got an empty middle seat! Everything’s coming up Millhouse.

…It never gets old.

Walk out to the cab line and say “Venetian, no tunnel” like a boss. Cab driver reminds me that it’s flat fares from the airport now and I guess I’m not such a boss after all.

If you’ve never seen the Venetian front entrance, it’s quite stunning.

The number 1 rule on any casino trip, ESPECIALLY a long trip, is that whatever you do, don’t get buried on the first night. I did not heed this advice on my last trip, a Memorial Day dudes trip weekender at Harrah’s Cherokee, and lost 2/3rds of what I brought on Friday night. It set the tone for the rest of the weekend, and though I battled back some, there were multiple walks of shame to the ATM.

So we’re keeping it easy and sticking to 1/3 tonight

Let’s goooooooo!

Why start at Venetian? I’m aware that Sheldon Adelson sucks, even as he’s rotting in hell, and they don’t treat their players great, AND 5+2 drop is kinda BS. But I always start at Venetian for a few reasons:

-It’s a nice place,
-It’s a big room with good selection at stakes I’ll be playing, but most of all,
-I’ve run really, REALLY hot here in the past.

I had a +3200 three day weekend at 2/5 and craps once. I started my trip here in 2019 and ran 300 —> 1200. I made a set of deuces to crack an overpaid, and the big hand was TT > AK > KK aipf :sunglasses::sunglasses:

So I’ve always been fond of the place.

This is where years of practice on night shift comes in handy. I fly in at night, pull an all nighter the first night, and don’t check in til the following afternoon. It’s not like I would have been sleeping anyway.

I schedule the flight back as a red eye, check out the day before, and pull another all nighter and then head to the airport.

That’s how you stay 14 days in Vegas while only paying for 12 nights!

So the plan was to play all night at Venetian until I check in, but they close the poker room at 3. Soooo I guess I’m going across the street to the Wynn and see if we can pick off some drunks on the graveyard shift!

Graveyard shift FTW!

Greyhound #1 has arrived, and I’m right on schedule.

Table seems passive, nobody has impressed me so far. Me likey.

Straddle button Ad8c, four limps for $6, I make it 20 on top with my option, 3 calls.

Flop Jd 7c 3d, checks to me I bet 35, only SB calls.

Turn Kd, small blind checks, I bet 45, intending to shove queen and diamond rivers, he calls 45 and dark checks.

River 3s, I give up and say “you win.” He says I dunno, maybe not, and turns up 9d 8h :flushed::flushed: I fastroll my massive A high and take it down.

Glad I didn’t muck!

The button straddles 6, one limp and I make it 20 in the hijack with Jc Tc. Button, SB and limper calls.

Flop Ts 9d 6c…. SB leads out 20, limper (who is wildly passive and terrible) flats, I make it 70. Button thinks and folds, SB calls, UTG folds.

Turn 7s, he looks at his chips and checks quickly… I think a minute and check back.

River As, he looks at his stack, rips for $150, and starts studiously watching tv.

I fold since I’m always crushed there, annoyed but obviously I feel fine about it

Stacked the super passive guy, AQ > A9 on AK4

He reloads full, we like it

Eh it turned sour after that…. Missed in a 4 bet pot, made a 2nd place full house deep in a limped pot big blind special that I’m angry about, and we cash out with 166, so down 134.

The night is young, on to the Wynn!

I’m in for this! But not for two overnights to save on hotel, I’d go broke staying up.
