TJ plays a ton of poker in Vegas for WSOP! ...And occasionally eats

Getting kicked in the nuts repeatedly >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> green olives > black olives

Pizza looks great aside from that, though

I’ve been to the Yardbird in Miami. Chicken N Watermelon N Waffles was solid!

I went to the V one and wasn’t too impressed.

Btw, @TJ_Eckleburg12, there is an in n out on the strip (kinda, in that area behind linq). If you never had boba i assume you’re from a in-n-out-less era. Worth a stop if youre in the area over some 30 dollar casino burger

Did you hop in the 500/1000 PLO?

^^I definitely don’t roll like THAT

Resorts World didn’t go well, -1090. I started out bad, was in for 2300 at one point, battled back to even, then lost focus and doubled up a nit twice. By the 2nd time, I KNEW he was a nit, but I still doubled him up anyway. He actually had an overpair when he was representing an overpair, gotta play better than that. At least I did pick up the rest of it instead of Ray Guy-ing everything I had left like I did last night.

Wasn’t feeling taking a 2nd Uber to get food, so I found something in the Resorts World food court. They do have lots of options. I settled on a chicken and sausage stir-fried rice bowl, which was pretty good for $15.

Now I’m back at the Airbnb, doing laundry for my last week.

Tomorrow I’m gonna get a great meal at Esther’s Kitchen, probably try Resorts World one more time, and then maybe check out the uncapped 2/3 game that runs on Thursday nights at Sahara. I’ve never been there before so it would be a worthy addition to the chip collection.

Had lunch at Esther’s Kitchen, which some locals say is the best real Italian place in Vegas. It was only 7 or 8 blocks from my place, and it’s smaller than I would have thought. I walked past it twice, but eventually found it.

One of my Uber drivers said you’ve got to try the bread dipping sauces, so I ordered the fresh baked half loaf of sourdough and the basil ricotta. That’s butter in olive oil on the bottom, and the basil ricotta on the top. The bread was super hot and fresh and melted everything, so it was good.

When she came back for my entree order, I felt I needed to have a conversation with her. I wanted some kind of pasta dish, but I had never heard of most of the stuff on the menu. So I said I’m inexperienced to Italian food, but I do like Americanized Italian food like lasagna and chicken parm. So what I’m going for is a meaty, cheesy pasta dish.

She said well we do have spaghetti and meatballs, and I said no I’m not gonna come all the way out here for spaghetti and meatballs lol. I decided on the strozzapretti, which is a pasta with truffle sausage, kale, mushrooms, and topped with Parmesan cheese. It was really good, and only $20 at lunch.

This place is definitely a lesser known Vegas gem, I’m glad I came out here.

Now, back to Resorts World and see if we can turn this back in the right direction!

WHAT IS STROZZAPRETI?

It is the taller cousin of cavatelli and the gangsta of the pasta family. Strozzapreti ‘s name literally means “Priest Stranglers.” Yes, in the Middle Ages this pasta was designed to choke priests to death right in front of you as you were having dinner. The Heimlich maneuver hadn’t been invented yet. But a hatred of paying taxes to the church had been. Furthermore medieval Italy had a love of curses. Apparently la sfoglina (the female pasta maker) would mutter a curse damning the priest with each cut of pasta. Think of strozzapreti as the semolina version of John Wick!

To be fair, I told you all up top I was going to all these places

In deep but at Resorts World but on the comeback. I gotta stop having sessions where I start by losing my ass early, then bear down, tighten up, and play good. Let’s try to skip all that and cut right to the “playing good” part

everytime they keep bringing up catholic priests scandals because they still didn’t do anything about it, this pasta becomes a more interesting idea…

I noticed online or live if I’m not somehow within the first three hands am in some huge pot I’m at a bad table.

-1300, but I’m lucky to be leaving with anything. Got KK in vs AA and made running quads, I’ll take it.

When you can’t spot the fish, you are the fish, so I racked up.

Since I’m running out of days and nights for meals, I wanted to make sure I hit another place on my list: Honey Salt. This is the number 1 rated restaurant on the Las Vegas Eater food blog, “specializing in comfort food.”

It’s way out in Summerlin, and I suspect I may have gotten long-hauled, because the cab was $40 from Resorts World. Guess that serves me right for just hopping in the taxi line and not waiting for an Uber.

Anyway, the ambiance is nice without being too stuffy. I started with a Caesar salad:

Looking over the menu, I really wanted to try the bacon wrapped meatloaf with tomato jam, but they had just run out of it. So I went with the fried chicken, which came with Mac and cheese, and subbed Brussel sprouts for the coleslaw. I think an Uber driver told me I should try the Brussel sprouts. It was a lot of food!

I don’t know how they breaded the chicken, but it was crispy and crumble-y at the same time. The Mac and cheese had panko bread crumbs for a little crunch, and the brussel sprouts tasted like they were stir fried in olive oil and garlic. The outer layers were crispy like paper, and chewy on the inside.

The dipping sauces were hot sauce, and honey (obv). I tried the hot sauce once, it was really hot, and that’s not my thing anyway.

Overall it was a really great meal! I’d be back if it were a little more convenient to the casinos.

The salad was $12 and the chicken entree was $26.

Next I’m gonna check out this uncapped game at Sahara, see if we can get unstuck on the day!

When are you leaving?

Wednesday morning red eye

Also, Summerlin seems like a nice area, after getting the nonstop sensory overload of lights and bells and alarms, it’s possible to forget you’re actually still in Vegas

Although all the nice-looking houses and subdivisions are gated and walled off, so there’s that
