Tim Hortons

Starbucks isn’t Portlandian in any way.

Original Starbucks was in Seattle.

There are still tons of these hybrid ones. The one nearest me is still this model.

Donut mold? She thinks donuts are baked? lol

Incredible.

Why would you search for a Tim Horton’s of all places?

Probably better for LC, but I’ll put it here.

I work with someone who is Canadian but has lived in the US for at least 20 yrs. Accent is fairly Americanized, but the usual words still stand out for the most part (e.g. about, sorry). However, a couple of days ago they used the word ‘kudos’. It was completely the American pronunciation. I must admit I was a tad disappointed.

It was in my head, maybe from a house hunting trip, that Tim Hortons was this amazing place I had to try.

Maybe I made a premature judgment, but I’m not a fan. Dunkin for life.

Yeah, it’s that more or less. I can’t even really figure out how I’d spell it phonetically, it sounds so weird to me but what you wrote is very close to what I’ve heard. I guess I have only really heard it twice. Maybe just a bad sample on my part.

If you’ve never even heard it once, I suppose I’ll have to assume that is what happened.

I get the same thing.

Now click on “learn to pronounce” and click on the link to hear it after that. There they say it normal American way.

Too bad they don’t have a Canadian option.
