This thread is about sex

Because it pertains to me and I’m older than that stop Milhousing the question Milhouse

I’m not I’m honestly confused what you are asking.

I agree with clovis though. Like suzzer said, I’ve found that as I get older, sex on the first date becomes a more relaxed thing, like people have had a bunch of sex by then and are more chill about it. Other than that, it’s the same as it’s always been, which is that it depends on the people etc etc.

I mean I guess maybe it doesn’t matter at any age. Maybe it shouldn’t maybe I’m asking the question wrong.

Like I think if the two really care for each other then why wait? But it seems to REALLY matter to a lot of people that there’s no sex on Date Number One and I don’t get it.

This is way more common that you seem to think.

It stems directly from the ancient silly idea sex is some kind of magical sacred thing only to be shared with those closest. It also has a deep vein of shame over female sexuality as well. It’s of the same class of norms as the idea a woman should be a virgin when married.

It’s just the cultural idea that we have that wanting sex for its own sake is somehow bad. Gotta wait until date 3 so we can prove to some invisible observer that we’re not just in it for the sex.

I talked to a Swedish exchange student once and she had come out here at 17 and been put with a host family and she just went to her host parents on like day 1 and was like “hey I need some sex toys, is there a sex shop nearby I can go to?”. And they were like “uhhhhhh ooookaaaay the thing is you’re not 18 and can’t go to one” and she was like “wat? that’s dumb”. I asked if in Sweden, that sort of conversation with people you don’t know very well would be normal and she was like “totally normal, no problem at all”. That’s what a normal attitude to sexuality looks like when you’re not brought up in a culture which attaches shame to sexual expression.

I guess I picked 40 because it seems like before age 40 no one cared as much but now it seems to matter more? Like Societal Norms suddenly kick in and what if the children find out and whatnot.

This seems like recent personal experience of yours generalised into some sort of Thing. It just depends on the person.

You expect prosocial behavior from an insensitive prick?

Yea Sweden is much better about sex than USA but hell lots of places are really. Ole USA #1 you’re not supposed to masturbate or have sex At 16 so the kids have uneducated, unprotected sex and we have a lot of abortions instead. USA USA USA
