I’ve been reading these! I’ve finished three of the Duffy books; thought they were all quite good. The author grew up in Belfast during The Troubles and adds a lot of local color to his stories.

It’s a little weird having a North Irish cop be the hero of the story, that’s for sure.

FWIW, I thought the first book was the weakest of the ones I’ve read so far. I jumped in at #5, which actually involves a murder at Carrickfergus castle. The Duffy character doesn’t change too much, he’s constantly a snob about music.

Look into puncture resistant tubes, they are about 3 times as thick as regular tubes and reduce punctures a lot. They weigh more but you only have to put them on once…

Last bike I had used a belt instead of a chain, super huge pain in the ass to remove the back tyre, especially if you do it once a year…

They mention this in the book!

That sounds like work which means I’d probably never finish your piece, and especially not in any reasonable timeframe. If I did an art store it would have to be whatever I painted available whenever I finished it.

I hear you. Okay just share more of your work as it comes if you don’t mind.

Did this sketch a while back testing colored pencil on toned paper. There are some aspects I like more than paint but it has some cons as well. I enjoy building layers up but once you flatten the tooth of the paper that’s it. Still haven’t found a medium I’m in love with. I did uncover some boxes during spring cleaning that gave me an idea for a new project though.

If I start an art business, the first dilemma is do I spend weeks / months painting a piece I can sell for a few hundred dollars on Etsy, or do I epoxy a couple G.I. Joes together and see if Saatchi can connect a buyer in Hong Kong willing to pay $16,500 for it?

bob ross churned out 2 paintings an hour. just do that.

Pretty sure Bob Ross ate out of a dumpster and the banana guy lives in a sky castle. So the decision is made!

In a short video report produced by the Times, Joan Kowalski, the president of Bob Ross, Inc., explained that while the company does indeed store Ross’s many works—around 1,165 of them—they lack the resources to do so properly. The video shows the paintings stacked in everyday cardboard boxes, piled together in a bland office space without much of a filing system.

Who could have guessed? And re: art business there’s some real interesting stuff in here:

Two or three weeks later, McIntire claims, the Thomas Kinkade Company’s then-CEO, John Hasting, ordered a conference call with franchise owners. He refused to answer art sellers’ questions, and it was essentially one-way call where Hasting announced the discovery of new Kinkade paintings. According to the lawsuit, corporate release a press statement saying, “All of Thom’s artwork, writing, and photographs were stored in a vault in his private studio, known as IVYGATE.

The bike ride

Notice any mosquitos landing on you at all?

Gnats? Fleas? You got any of those?

You’re probably just dehydrated. Drink water before exercising and sip water while exercising. Also try not to go from full exertion to stopping immediately, a “cool down” period might help.
