He’s third all time in medal count, only behind GOATS Phelps and Ledecky idk seems better than just some schlub I guess :man_shrugging: though wiki reminds me that I mostly remember him at all because he made up that story about being robbed by OMG BROWNS.

oh and getting merked by the IAC for juicing, which he posted about on IG as it was happening which i believe is how they caught him. clearly not our smartest olympian

So, Severance

I think people will complain that not enough happens, but that’s the way the show was in season one until the last episodes and the finale’s crescendo. Wayyyy more questions than answers. Helly lying about what she saw while in overtime is one of the more compelling elements. It occurred to me that maybe Helly is actually now her outie on the severed floor, but that is pure speculation.

Severance

The “is she or isn’t she” with Helly seems to be what people are speculating about. I think she’s just Helly R. Helena would have had a less obvious lie ready to go. Helly’s reason for lying is clear, but I think she just made the classic blunder of adding too much detail and since she doesn’t know enough about the outside world, she messed up.

I guess it could be Helena, but seems like too dumb of a lie for her to have made. I guess one way we will see is if she’s good at her job.

Watched the first episode of Laid on Peacock.

Sucks.

EDIT: I should elaborate. Premise could be good: woman finds out her exes (used loosely - most so far are just people she went out on a couple dates with or had sex with) are dead/dying. Takes the entire first episode to get to that realization. She’s entirely unlikeable, but not in a funny way. Every scene drags on and kills any humor. I assume she’ll have a character arc where she gets more likeable, but I don’t know if I want to see if that happens.

The scariest part about the new season of Goosebumps is how poorly David Schwimmer has aged

(severance S2E1)

yeah I thought for a while that either she was her outie or maybe she had never been severed at all (if this were the case then she was hiding it from Corbel and Milchick as well) but I don’t think this is it, it’s just the obvious “she lied because she knows that if the team finds out who her outie is they won’t trust her”

also I don’t think this is spoilery, but

the “new team” said something that implied they were all previously working in a different building, right? They all seem to know what macrodata refinement is already, no orientation needed, and there’s no other MDR team in this facility as far as we know. Also, the propaganda movie they watch when the original team returns also implies there are severed facilities all over the world (which seems to conflict with the S1 implication that this was a highly experimental process and that they were trying to get legal approval to expand it?)

also,

what have the outies been doing for five months? does lumon just pay them to stay home? do they come into the office and do busywork?

what about the “new team”? where’s their old team leader? where did they suddenly disappear to?

love to get spam on linkedin for TV shows

I mean this is mildly clever but seriously fuck off

New team felt like a throwaway joke and it does kind of ruin the setting. Going down a rope into a pit to get severed? Haha his country is so poor they cant afford an elevator but come on. Unless its a purposeful plant and comes back later I think its just a random indulgence and I choose to ignore it.
