The Television Streaming Thread: Part III

Y’all had me psyched for The Penguin but I did not much care for the first episode :slightly_frowning_face:

what’s wrong with you

Sometimes I just want to watch something dumb and make fun of it. But I think this show may be getting too dumb for that.

What was so bad about it :popcorn::popcorn:

It was very insulting to the audience’s intelligence. Like pretending that having an idea that an elderly eyewitness might not have good vision is a genius-level insight. Or trying to pull off the most badly telegraphed “Silence of the Lambs” wrong-location style switcheroo.

Also, some of the main plot points revolved around old people TV shows, like knowing the timing of the commercial breaks on 60 Minutes, or pointing out the the original Matlock switched from NBC to ABC for its last three seasons.

Finally! What’s it been? Gotta be close to 3 years. Don’t think I’m going to rewatch all of season 1 but definitely going to need to watch the finale again.

Are you asking if “baby goats” is code for “sex with Mark S”?

I’m not at all a fan of wrestling, but I very much enjoyed the docuseries Mr McMahon. I guess I just like stories about abusive old white dudes finally being exposed.

Final season of What We Do in the Shadows started this week. I think they already dropped three episodes. Wife and I watched the first - great, as always. This is one of those shows where I will really miss the characters when it’s over.

Liked the first episode also.

I’ll miss it, but I’d rather them end the series on a high note.

My favorite part of the first episode:

The other vampires kept mocking the way Laszlo’s speaks

Episode 2 was even better. They’re definitely going out on top if they keep this up.

Three episodes in and this is fantastic.

Escape at Dannemora is like what if someone got together a stacked cast and an incredible script, filmed a ton of footage for a movie, then got in the edit room and found there was simply too much amazing stuff so it was better to assemble the whole thing into an eight episode limited series.

When I say this is a stacked cast, I mean it is STACKED. Directed by Ben Stiller, starring Benicio del Toro, Patricia Arquette, Paul Dano, Bonnie Hunt, Eric Lange, and David Morse.

Based on a true story. Now on Netflix.

Yeah, this thing was really great.

If someone just described the plot to me I’d be kind of lukewarm about it, but they really knocked it out of the park.

That’s why I hesitated to give it a shot, but my housemate says let’s try it out, and the opening credits listing name after name let me know I was in for a great ride. I almost feel like the synopsis should say “led by a stellar cast, directed by Ben Stiller.” Just a synopsis of the premise might mean too many people are missing out.

Nobody wants This is a very well done rom com that is actually funny

Just finished rewatching season 1 again. So fucking good. Crazy the actor who does Mr. Milchick has done basically nothing since season 1. He is outstanding.
