Im honestly surprised you gave it a chance. Im not sure there is anything left that man says that I give a shit about.
By the way he said “fuck Bill Maher” because he is being compared to Bill Maher, because he fucking is Bill Maher. A guy who has always been a libertarian pretending to be left wing whos brain got absolutely cooked by the fact that trans people existed.
Yeah, I saw him in an interview once talking about how much it hurt that people didn’t like Eternals. Similar to what he said there, but just in a conversation. He’s a nerd who was so psyched to be in a huge Marvel movie and he legit thought it was good, so when people hated it, it was tough. Totally understandable.
Finally started watching The Bear, because my wife wanted to try it. We’re three episodes in and I kind of like it, but not for most of it (basic premise is legit dumb and people should just be fired left and right in it, but it’s a TV show, so…).
Why I am connecting with it is because Ayo just absolutely makes me root for her character, who I’m considering to be the hero in the show. Like Carmy, she doesn’t have to be there, but she’s approaching it from a 180 degree different perspective than him. I’m not really invested in anyone else and the Richie character is really hard to take along with the breakneck editing and shooting style of the first two episodes. The pace slowed to reasonable in the third episode with a different director, so I’m imagining the show will get a lot better as it establishes, especially because of how much of a critical and awards show darling it is.
I would have wanted to keep plowing through it but I have other stuff to do that I’ve been delaying on and tomorrow my wife wants to watch the last two Mission: Impossible movies. I may not get back to this until the weekend where we’ll probably end up binging most of it.
I’ve been a huge fan of hers since I worked on an interview she did for something I can’t remember several years ago. She’s so earnestly weird and I loved it, because in those interviews actors have a really hard time coming off authentic. This character is exactly her but in a 180 degree different presentation of herself. She’s an absolutely magnificent actress and a hilariously weird and eccentric person in real life. LKJ or someone probably posted her Letterbox at some point which has some good stuff in it.
It reached a satisfying conclusion. I just think it could have gotten there a little quicker. My spoiler wasn’t really a spoiler and just said I approve of the ending and look forward to the next season
Stranger Things S5 Ep 5-7 If they were going to the follow through with the “The boy who lived has to die card”, they would have waited to the last minute to play it and it would have been Eleven’s idea not her sister’s idea. And since that is now the conflict point, we basically know that Eleven will be around after Vecna has been defeated to make that decision. That’s really bad writing, imho. Let’s see if they stick the landing but my guess is it’s paint by numbers and everyone lives happily ever after.
Ok changing my line here, two episodes to go but it’s definitely worth watching. Feel like the storytelling is more focused now. Definitely won’t make any top lists, but solid. Especially if you’re a fantasy fan.
It’s interesting to see Wayne Knight gently tell Jason Alexander, “Uhh, well you were at least a little bit more of a dick than you’re giving yourself credit for.”
I mean, none of it makes it sound super toxic necessarily, but I have to just believe Knight’s implications since he clearly wasn’t trying to be combative or score points here.
