I had the same problem with Shogun initially. I also do a lot of my tv viewing while doing other tasks and could tell early that Shogun wasn’t that kind of show. You’ve gotta be dialed in. I found some time this last weekend to catch up finally.
The reward is so good.

Just finished Fallout. I pretty much agree with everything that’s been said about Max in this thread. Just a terrible character not well executed by the actor either. The rest of the cast was fantastic, as was the show. Yeah, not the most intricate plot, but a well executed show that used the source material well. Goggins is a national treasure. I’m ready for season 2.
I want to like Shogun. I think I do like it. But man it can drag on at times, and I feel like I’m missing some of the emotions and character development through the subtitles. I’ll do dubs on a rewatch to see if that’s much better.
The characters all seem under-developed, especially Ishido and Ochiba, who seem little more than MacGuffins at this point. And I’m struggling to figure out the deal with Yabushige. Although I think it was said best up top. He’s just a naked survivalist at this point. Maybe someone can explain the ending of episode 9 better to me? So he lets Ishido’s assassins in, then proceeds to run and hide from them with Mariko and Blackthorne? Why?
Plausible deniability. He may have also feared/realized that they’d kill him anyhow

Probably just Frasier reboot redux, though it bears remembering that a day existed when Parks and Rec seemed like a rushed and ill-conceived Office spinoff.
Still, if they can’t get Mike Schur for this then it’s probably nothing.
There’s no way this can be a good idea. As verified by the show’s final seasons.
How come I watched 12 seasons of Curb over 20(!) years, watched plenty of Larry David interviews, heard the same damn stories about walking out on his standup or unquitting SNL a hundred times, but it wasn’t until the last few episodes that I found out Larry was a NYR hockey fan?
