The Television Streaming Thread: Part III

Do you need to watch the Netflix series first, or is this a reboot? I think I saw the first two seasons but not the third.

I think it would be helpful to watch the 3rd season first. This is a continuation of the previous series but not sure what, if anything happened in S3 that is required information prior to watching this, if that makes sense.

I watched the Netflix series as it aired (but haven’t rewatched since) and I’ve seen the first episode of the new series. I definitely felt like they were referencing a lot of things that happened in the original series. They also reference things that happened in the other Netflix Marvel shows and the Disney+ shows that share a universe (for example, Kingpin also popped up in Echo and Hawkeye and they did reference those events in the first episode). For me, I’m enough of a casual that I don’t mind not catching every reference and easter egg as long as I know the basic backstory and vibe, but YMMV.

Didn’t all of the Netflix comic shows get removed? I was thinking of watching some Punisher but didn’t see it anymore

They all moved to Disney+.

Yuck

Probably the only streaming service I don’t have

Deleted b/c ponied

If you have hulu, you can bundle it with disney+ for just a buck more a month

This is such a heartwarming show

On episode 3, holy shit this is good

I’m on season 2 of a rewatch of Sex and the City and I’m loving it. The show really was revolutionary for the time. A show about four thirty (or forty) something women having frank and honest discussions about sex, romance, and friendship.

I’m having such a good time that I tried out the first episode of the sequel series And Just Like That… and holllllllllly shit this is terrible. Will not be continuing AJLT but will gladly be finishing Sex and the City.

I’m sure you would have had some amazing takes about the show (especially the Che Diaz character), but bailing out early on AJLT is the right call. I hung out for a while out of sheer inertia/disbelief, but eventually tapped out.

yeah my wife was a huge SATC fan and she just insta-checked out on AJLT, it’s SOO cringe, a lot of HOW DO YOU DO FELLOW KIDS energy, thank god because I was like ā€œthis shit is so bad I can’t even sit on the couch and do sodoku on my phone while it’s onā€

I’m glad E3 of White Lotus got 0 discussion. By far the most boring episode of the series. E2 was reeling me in, but E3 you can skip and come back for E4 and hopefully stuff will be kicking off.

Didn’t find it boring at all

Ahh ok. It got a 7.0 and the previous all time low was 7.3 for S1E1.
Still a decent score I guess.

So far this season hasn’t had an episode top 7.6, and 7.6 was the floor for any S2 episode.

Kinda mirrors my thoughts. I have enough faith in White Lotus that I’ll see this out, but not near as compelling so far as the other 2 seasons.

I am struggling with this whole season. Every recap has stuff I don’t remember seeing. I have just not been able to focus on the show very much. I agree e3 was extra boring.

I enjoy every episode of White Lotus, including the last one. That said, it’s an unserious show that I don’t feel the need to lock in for or anything, so I’m not necessarily giving it full focus either.
