Lincoln Lawyer update: just saw one of the worst poker scenes of all time. Straight-flush over quads over a boat. Somehow winning with the nuts is supposed to show that you’re great at reading people.
Nothing will ever top the poker scene from In Time. JT is supposed to be a good poker hustler, who comes into a ton of money (years in the movie) and decides to play in the big game at a casino. We only see hand starting at turn, but villain has QQ vs JT’s 84o on a Q75J board. Villain bets 50 years into a pot of 600 years, JT calls (with 200 years behind, no idea why villain bet so small), to bink the miracle inside straight. No clue what blinds were or what pre-flop and flop betting was, but they made it seem like a monster pot. So somehow JT decided to gamble it up pre with 84, call flop and turn with inside straight draw and hit. After which Villain is impressed at how well JT played and decides they should work together.
Yeah I’ve enjoyed first two episodes but the bullying scenes were just way too much. I said as much to the wife
I think they’ve done a really solid job of getting everyone involved without completely bringing the plot to a standstill. Nothing will ever top season 1 but this has been a good start and I’m looking forward to continuing
By the way, the sound on Stranger Things is great. I don’t have a super sound setup, just a decent receiver, a subwoofer a bought off Craigslist, and some old home theater in a box speakers, but man, certain parts shake the room without any explosions or anything like that.
I thought it was superficially enjoyable but like almost all the recent Star Wars the more you think about it the more problematic it becomes. Also episode 1 had maybe the worst chase scene I’ve ever seen.
If Stranger Things S4 episodes seem like too much of a commitment with the 1+ hour run times, you can fast forward through all the scenes that are 3-5 times longer than they need to be and get each episode down to about 20 minutes.
Very fair. I’m trying to just enjoy and not get too caught up. Pretty much the OG trilogy was Star Wars and rest is just fan service (except for Rogue One which I though was exceptional).
Kinda digging the vibe of kenobi so far, but I’m gonna need mcgregor to give me at least one “I’m gettin too old for this shit” at some point in this series.
