Euphoria Episode 5. Near a perfect hour of television
My thoughts while watching
Oh wow Zendaya deservers whatever award they give for TV shows… oh we’re only 10 minutes in
Euphoria is a teen drama show and Zendaya giving an Oscar winning performance as a drug addict in the same TV show… what if both parts of the show had a head on collision in the best way possible?
That cartoon gag where the cartoon guy is floating down and misses the pillow factory and hits the porcupine factory but for Zendaya jumping over fences
Oh this part is like Taratino movie if you didn’t have all that snazzy dialog and just made it horrifying.
John DiMaggio, who provided the voice behind the wise-cracking robot with the “shiny metal ass,” Bender, is finalizing a deal to return as well, though it has not yet closed.
All the guesses on the next Meryl Streep are almost certainly wrong.
Just like NFL players, it seems that at the ends of their career actors can just take a nosedive. It’s more the rule rather than the exception.
Imagine that we were doing this 30 years ago. People would be throwing out De Niro or Pacino as can’t miss prospects. But once they got old, they really started putting out some shit.
That’s the natural progression and what will almost certainly happen to all these presumptive next Streeps.
Meryl Streep hasn’t shown even a hint of that. She is a yuuuuuuge outliar in that regard.
I’d guess Matt Damon, but I’m sure he will be wrong too.
Looks like he turned down the deal that West and Sagal agreed to, so now it becomes a really sticky situation where if negotiations are now successful, it means that he is making more than his Co-stars for likely similar amounts of screen time. Things being so public, that could lead to tension all around.
“According to sources, the offer to DiMaggio was in line with that for fellow leads West (Fry) and Sagal (Leela) who, after a back-and-forth, agreed to a deal while DiMaggio felt the proposal was not competitive based on the success and name recognition of the original series.”
Most concerning though, is this
“The role is currently being recast ahead of the first table read on Monday. The decision was made after DiMaggio’s negotiations with Futurama studio 20th Television Animation came to a standstill though there is a desire on both sides to have him rejoin the cast and reprise his role.”
Obviously, stand ins for table reads are a thing, but having someone actually cast as Bender prior to the table read seems like a pretty ominously bad sign.
