Is anyone watching Murderville? OMG I am laughing my ass off, I can’t tell if it’s brilliant or it’s just the gummies I’ve been taking. Marshawn Lynch is an amazing unexpected comedic genius.
@anon46587892 I am tagging you bcoz murder mysteries are in your wheelhouse.
The concept is brilliant. Improv comedy podcasts have been a thing for a while, making an improv TV show makes a lot of sense. There are a ton of undiscovered comics who are great at improv out there. Somehow Marshawn Lynch is hilarious?!
On an unrelated note, I’m watching the Star Trek where Lincoln bodyslams Ghengis Khan. Man, science fiction was so rowdy back in the day. It’s wild, it’s actually legitimately interesting storytelling somehow. Spock’s loyalties are tested as never before. What if your imagination is more real to you than reality? GOAT era for sci-fi.
Marshawn was funny, but he really put a cap on the standard “Yes, and” philosophy of improv. There sure were a lot of Nos coming out of his mouth during the games.
Finished Reacher. Enjoyed more than the Cruise movies. Will never think of the name Roscoe in the same way again.
I was fooled by the currency character. While he was missing I was figuring that he was the real kingpin and was putting a move on Kliner to take over the operation, that even his wife might be in on it. As I mentioned before, the super secret ultimate bad guy revealed late trope has become an expectation. The son killing Daddy was certainly a more coherent resolution, which is why I felt the reveal would be more shocking. Saw a blurb that said Willa Fitzgerald is not part of season 2.
Yeah I watched in two sessions as well. I liked it. On the other hand “In from the cold” on netflix will probably be a fastword for me. This CIA agent would be the first I would have killed if I was her.
What I hate about the Reacher stuff is that the books are in no order. I read one I enjoyed it but when I found out that they are all over the place I stopped looking into them.
Meh read the article but it isnt clear yet if there will be a 2nd season. From the nature of the books I would have been surprised if Roscoe returns.
One thing I would argue is that he shouldnt have taken the blows by the crow bar so easily. These hits should have knocked him down or I underestimate his muscles.
Biggest nit is the one you pointed out. At the beginning they did a good job of showing how devastating these attacks are. Broken hands. Dangling appendages. The knife work = Stab, stab, game over. Eventually they fell victim to the hollywood long fight scene. Multiple full impact strikes and people just get up. Ugh.
Having seen a lot (and even done a bit) of amateur improv, I’m gonna disagree there. So many people just completely freeze up or take crazy approaches in improv scenes that you wouldn’t even be able to tell a coherent story, let alone a funny one.
And even someone like Sharon Stone who didn’t have great comedy chops still added to the episode b/c Arnett could play off her already existing image and used her no selling as the comedy.
Anyway, I agree Conan was the best and Lynch was a pleasant surprise (although I was legitimately scared for the guy who came at him with a baseball bat).
Just finished Alice in Borderland. I actually think I liked Squid Game better. But it’s probably not fair to judge until both series are completely over.
i started watching archive 81 because i liked starbase 11 so i thought a show with a word and some numbers in the title would be good for me. it’s like a horror drama mystery kind of show, which i don’t really love but i’m liking it enough to stick with it even though i don’t really care for this genre. so i’m kind of on and off watching it and getting increasingly concerned there won’t be a big sci fi twist.
murderville is alright for an improv show. you gotta have low expectations for improv so on that level it’s good, but i’d rather watch a real scripted show tbh. except for the episode with annie murphy who is an absolute delight in all things
Marshawn was fantastic. He dove into the role. My wife didn’t know who he was and loved him. I haven’t watched, coincidentally, the two episodes with female guests yet. Ken Jeong was hilarious because he was just cracking up the whole time. Nanjiani was great because he was really good at dishing it out.
