The Television Streaming Thread: Part II - Hot Takes, Jags Fans, and Bert

David Zaslav makes like $120 million a year and is quite obviously a fucking moron. It’s astonishing

I assume it is because Discovery way over values their brand so this idiotic compromise was to come up with a new name that is wholly pointless and unidentifiable to everyone.

To me the “what should we call the combined service” should have taken ten seconds. “HBO?” , “HBO!”.

So will my cable guide just say some variation of MAX over and over when I occasionally stumble upon it after the switch?

Hi I’m just sharing what I made. The first one is just an audio recap I can’t figure out how to fix the video :frowning:

The second two have video though!

It really is the dumbest shit ever. Obviously it should be HBO, but even if you isolate the choices to “not HBO”, Max is horrible.

lol of course this. A good way to verify is to release a stand alone MAX app and streaming service with just Cinemax content and watch people line up to not sub. Does that channel even release exclusive content?

I don’t recall ever hearing a comedian do a set on Conan or Kimmel or whatever and walk over to the chair and tell the host “catch my special on Cinemax!”

Haha yes and I guess Showtime and THE Movie Channel are owned by whoever which is why the same could be said about the latter.

I’d probably subscribe for a month or 2 if they just showed their 90s softcore porn movies. The nostalgia factor of “holy shit, I remember that one!” would be worth it for a short while.

So was the “Columbus” episode of The Sopranos generally well received?

Cause I hated it

Have played in home games with free food, drugs and hookers.

Aww, the guys outside Satriale’s eatin’, reading the paper, blowing their noses; Furio’s insight into the North/South divide in Italy, and Tony’s speech to Sil in the car after the casino trip was a top 15 speech.

Jesus, take it easy.

Looking forward to Peacock following Max’s lead.

Cinemax had some decent TV 10ish years ago with Banshee and The Knick, I subscribed to it for a year or two.

Cinemax has had a handful of original programs over the years, but certainly much less than 10 in total.

As for max pricing

CBS/paramount own showtime plus movie channel. I think paramount plus is going to include showtime now. Surprised they didn’t rename paramount plus, “Dude”.

Thinking back on it, it was not one of my favorites. In fact you mentioning it makes me think it was one of my least favorites.
