Hot take: I much prefer when shows do “one episode per week” shit.
Yeah, that’s scorching.
Especially because If they drop it all, you can always choose to just watch one episode per week, if that’s what you want.
Not true. The benefit of once a week isn’t the once a week. It’s the shared experience where many people are watching and discussing a thing at the same pace.
That’s nice and all, but it is dwarfed by the annoyance of having to wait.
That’s true. I think they will likely drop Alice all at once, so there will probably be some general comments about the series, but nothing near the recent chatter of Andor/HOD/WL, etc. I think I also prefer the once a week for the discussion and build up.
I started Chainsaw Man, and am halfway thru the 10 eps released so far. I think 11 drops in 5-6 days and it seems like there’s at least 4-5 of us into the show, so that can take the place of White Lotus as the series everyone is talking about.
curious what you think makes daphne a monster?
Yah, it’s a pretty weird take. I guess she’s a little superficial, but that’s probably super common for the circle they run in. The “bad” stuff she’s done is mostly in reaction to what Cameron’s putting her through. It’s a coping mechanism so she doesn’t feel like she’s the only one being taking advantage of in the relationship. It’s not great, but it seems like this is the agreement/understanding that they have in their relationship. I’ll have my fun on the side, and you have yours, and we’ll keep the details silent.
I struggle even calling her a “bad” person, not sure how you arrive at her being a monster. She seemed sweet to the staff and other strangers at the resort, which is usually a tell that she’s at least a decent person.
it doesn’t seem that silent. seems like cam knew about it otherwise why would he think it was ok to sit with them at dinner after Ethan tried to drown him.
Half the fun of Breaking Bad, and GoT, was going on to 2p2 and arguing about kids smoking ricin all week until the next episode.
I feel like that’s been a central theme in both seasons: what are you willing to do, what are you willing to compromise, to get what you want? And what many/most want is material success/comfort. That’s what I took from Rachel staying with Shane in season one: she could stand on principle and be on her own, which looked like a real challenge, or she could stick around and be a super-rich trophy wife. And in the real world the vast majority of people would choose the latter.
I’ve only watched Attack on Titan and bits of maybe 2 other animes, but Chainsaw Man got me interested so I started looking up others that might interest me and came across one on Netflix called Kakegurui (Gambler in Japanese). It’s about a boarding school where social standing is based on gambling prowess. You can rise and fall by challenging those ahead of you. The first 3 episodes have been pretty good and it’s probably right up this forum’s alley.
I interrupt my scrolling past all the White Lotus spoilers to present this:

I rewatched Party Down recently and didn’t enjoy it as much as I used to. I had it as a top tier comedy but would definitely downgrade it now.
Jesus the “Lyra leaving Pan on the shore” scene of his dark materials/the amber spyglass was brutal.
Binged “Andor” and… it was way better than it had any right to be. Don’t think a Star Wars property has held my attention like that since I saw Empire in the theater.
I knew a few of those. Just thought they were insanely weird to place in the OP. Even the song is kinda weird.
Anyway, all caught up on Chainsaw Man. It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen a show as good as it.
Put Primal on my watch list way back, just finished season 2. Wow.
10/10, 6/6, 5 bags of popcorn, completely awesome in every way. Highly recommend to everyone ITF.
Finished Stargirl season three and I am very sad that was the final season. The tacked-on epilogue gave an idea of the stories they could have told. Great twist towards the end of the season.
I think I told this story once, but short version is that I was almost accidentally an actor and an expert advisor in a scene on Stargirl. I submitted for an extra role to be a science teacher. I was told I got the part and they e-mailed me…the script?
When I questioned it, they proceeded to ask me for my input on the scene, what kind of equipment would be in the classroom, instructions on an easy experiment the teacher could be doing, etc. I told them I wasn’t actually a science teacher, but they still had me talk to the prop master to answer questions he might have. He sent me a long list of questions and I told him I’d get back to him with the answers. He even asked me to quote him my fee.
Confused as shit, I contacted casting again and they realized they totally fucked up. The science teacher wasn’t an extra role - an actor had already been hired for it - AND they don’t know why they thought I was an expert advisor. They told me they’d find me an extra role, but IDGAF about that, it was just a weird experience for a couple days.
Talk about impostor syndrome.
