Watching this with my wife. It’s fun. I’m not really an anime fan, so can’t judge on how comparatively good it is.
I mean do they even explain anything at all about these two couples? Was even a single thing, up to and including Harper’s “they brought us here for a reason” in the season premiere resolved at all? If so, I need to rewatch because I totally missed it. I think I said upthread that if they did to Harper and Ethan what they did last season to Rachel and Shane, it would ruin it for me, and by god that is exactly what they went and did! No resolution. No moment of clarity, at least nothing the viewers can actually see. Just, hey, this is the Love Boat, and people are here to fall in love again so that is what we are going to do here! Just sorely disappointing writing as far as those characters are concerned imo.
The trailer was amazing. It’s not on Netflix though.
Honestly, this may be the best take I have read regarding those characters. Otherwise, given how their story ended, I think they could have just left their whole subplot out of the season entirely and it would have been just as good as it was.
lol the O is short (like “bonners” rather than “boners”) I’ve heard him on a couple podcasts and he seems like an OK dude. Last I heard he was still alive
Ethan looks like a male model but also like he is 12.
The WL subreddit already confirmed season 3 if that can be trusted.
Pretty shocking that Coolidge won’t be in it, since People Are Saying that White wrote the initial story with her in mind so no one thought he would ever kill her off.
he looks like he just aged out of a bad Disney channel teen sitcom
White hinted in a brief post-show interview airing last night that The White Lotus ‘ likely Asia-set third season will explore “death in Eastern religion and spirituality.” The show written, directed and exec produced by White had been picked up for a third go-round in November.
The reason they were invited is so Cameron can beg Ethan to invest in his company, and potentially also fuck his wife. One possible conclusion is that when Cameron passes Lucia the envelope with money at the end, that implies that Ethan did agree to invest and he’s now no longer busto.
i don’t he is busto and i don’t think that he has a company. i think he works in wealth management?
Watched the first episode. I’m definitely a fan.
Has anime in general become a lot darker as of late? A lot of the anime I watched in the 2000s was much lighter. Hell even the color pallette is darker.
White Lotus
The did they/did they not hook up discussion is simultaneously interesting and meaningless. Meaningless because it was written to be ambiguous and as characters they don’t even exist outside of the show, so it’s entirely possible it wasn’t even written with an answer to that question. Interesting because as an audience we’re left feeling the same uncertainty as the characters. We’re judging the character’s stories with the same imperfect information that they have themselves.
That being said I think it’s 75% Cameron and Harper hooked up, 100% Ethan and Daphne.
Alice in Borderland S2 drops on 12/22. There’s some time to get caught up and if maintains a similar quality then I think it will be discussed a lot.
Watched the first few eps of WL and i was surprised that it is a fairly stereotypical upstairs/downstairs show. Downtown Abbey but at an all inclusive resort. Not that I wasn’t entertained but with all the hype I was expecting something a little more original.
So I opened HBO Max to watch White Lotus and the home screen is advertising a new documentary.
It’s called “Pelosi in the House” made by her daughter. I’m not sure I’ve been less interested to watch anything in my entire life.
Yeah, he is ridiculously jacked. Maybe the reason why I found it so jarring is because the last thing I saw him in he was one of those rail thin, super skinny dudes and it looks like he put on about 30 lbs of muscle.
Are they dropping the whole thing or are they doing this one episode per week shit?
