The Television Streaming Thread: Part II - Hot Takes, Jags Fans, and Bert

You should fix your spoiler tags.

Like I said, I could have missed it. I’ll watch again at some point. But even if you’re right, there really is no reason for the conversation on the plane with Oakley.

He knows it will get back to Kim through the lawyer? Judge? DA maybe? The lady that calls her to let her know. He knows that that will happen (cause Jimmy is a little bit omnipotent.) He had to let the prosecutors know he knew something without telling them directly.

How dumb are we supposed to think this guard is? He knew that Jimmy wanted him to hear exactly what he said. That’s pretty ‘directly’.

Is Fox News mad yet that there are black people in House of Dragons?

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the only series on Disney+ I might end up finishing

I’ve watched the first two episodes so far and am loving it. Glad it was renewed. Kdramas are usually one and done

Wait, the lotr show is based on the Silmarillion? I hated that book.

Looks like it just covers the end of the second age described in the Sil as a lead-in to LOTR. I assume it’s not going to cover the entire history of Middle Earth.

The Staircase
5/10

I hated this series, though I think this maybe my personal preference. The series about a true crime event. A man calls 9-11 and says his wife has fallen down the stairs and died. The police suspect foul play.

Ok my first problem is that the series is about the event but it’s also about the French documentary crew who is filming the family as part of their documentary about the true crime event. It’s seven episodes and each episode is over an hour long. It’s like watching seven movies. The series throws every possible thing into the mix. Maybe he killed her, maybe she fell, maybe a bird attacked her, maybe the husband’s lover attacked her. Just everything thrown into the series until it felt muddled. The point of the series is everything’s ambiguous. I get it but after so much ambiguity over such a long time span it just felt unsatisfying.

I like that one. It was sort of just a multi episode marvel film but very enjoyable. Moon Knight was something special though. By far my favorite of the Marvel TV series.

my wife finally bullied me into watching yellowstone, made it about 6 minutes before pulling out my phone and checking out, just off the charts terrible

There is the original series that the french team made on netflix.

I suspect I may or may not find it interesting only because from what I read it was one of the first kind of in depth true crime series, kind of like the Serial podcast, but for the DVD cable generation and a big part of the popularity was the titillation of a married man having sex with men. I read over the wiki and some reviews of the series and the facts of the case seem mubdane at least compared to the plethora of true crime material now. I guess it’s the pornification of true crime or maybe the normalization of alternative lifestyles, but now it takes a lot more than a murdered wife and bisexuality to spark interest.

the big gotcha was the woman in germany.

Yellowstone is AWFUL

It’s basically fantasy porn for Trump voters

Also the plot is completely absurd

Old boss (pimped out F-150 in the suburbs) fucking loved it

Totally disagree. Thought It was good mindless soap opera fun.

Have been saving For All Mankind S3 for a work trip overseas. Since that has now been pushed back to at least October, I’m in.

Really enjoyed E1, should be fun to see where it goes. It is getting more and more soap opera-y but it’s fun and is an interesting what if projection if the space race stayed intact.

On S3 ep 4 now. Still soapy, but I like the direction it’s going. I like how they mix some real events while also having some random things change due to various butterfly effects. Also, the way they’ve kept multi-generational plots going is pretty impressive, even if a bit contrieved…

Got damn this show is good. Just cuts right through frivolous reality. Grimy and beautiful at the same time. I feel like I’m on drugs when I watch it.

It’s definitely taking hours off my life. The agony is real.
