I don’t understand skipping any part of the show. It’s all integral to what Chase was trying to do. Now if you want to argue that a satire of the American Dream that depicts the people who “made it” as fat, lazy, violent assholes, and that does lots of weird spiritual and psychological detours, sucks and is boring, then sure, that’s an opinion to have, but I don’t know how you’d reconcile it with thinking The Sopranos was a great show.
We can all agree tho that the ending sucked Big Pussy balls
Not sure we can all agree about that lol.
I mean to me at least it’s pretty obvious he gets killed. He had a boss of a New York family hit… they might not have been sad to see him go, but that doesn’t mean they’d let the precedent go. Particularly not if all they have to do to nip that in the bud is have the captain of a glorified crew from NJ killed.
And I think the ambiguous finish was absolutely perfect for the show. I think definitive endings for worlds as rich as the Sopranos are very hard to pull off. Game of Thrones got totally ruined by its ending ldo.
Obviously The Sopranos isn’t anywhere near as good of an ending as shows that managed to stick the landing (best example Breaking Bad) perfectly, but there are maybe 2 of those and I think that’s debatable. Not trying to hit the landing perfectly and ending on the note it did was enough to be substantially better than most. It let the fans pick the ending that they’d prefer to see. For me at least it’s the last scene being the final moments of Tony’s life.
Probably going to get raked over the coals for this, but am I the only one around here that has seen exactly zero episodes of all of these?
Probably? That’s pretty crazy unless you don’t have electricity
Yes you are. I don’t know about raked over the coals… I’m incredibly envious that you get to watch them all.
And you absolutely should. Those are 4 shows that pretty much represent ‘the best TV ever made’ depending on who you talk to.
They are all immensely enjoyable at surface level as well, so if you’re the type of person who doesn’t want to read blog posts about TV shows then you can still enjoy them.
Yeah this is an important point. None of them are anything but a blast to watch. This is not an experience like reading old literature lol.
I have also seen zero episodes of those. I don’t have any plans to watch any of them.
I forgot more about The Sopranos than anything else, mostly because I wasn’t a regular viewer during its original run. I love Breaking Bad and the other two I’ve yet to see.
Also OMG @ Reno 911 being back!
Also holy balls no No No NO you do NOT skip the Melfi scenes they are integral to the story as has been correctly pointed out itt. It’s like an actor trying to play Hamlet but ignoring the stage directions. They are crucial in the development of Tony’s character. Whether or not he benefits from the therapy is completely beside the point.
Also “The Test Dream” is one of the best episodes, consistently ranked top 10 by most critics. “Mayham” is one of my top 3 and is also a (partial) dream episode performed and shot brilliantly.
For people who own a television and read a Netflix Hulu thread? Maybe. Although if you were under 25 or over 75 it might not be as weird.
But you have seen every episode of Red Dwarf?
I don’t think I’ve seen any full episodes either, when they were on I had a full Tivo of other shows I liked and didn’t add them, and also didn’t have HBO at the time.
I have been using quibi. They have a lot of new shows from good content creators. 7 minute episodes are weird though.
There are several other places in line that I’ll pay for content before quibi.
Now you… you are going to get raked over the coals. This is like when @iron81 said his entire diet is made up of mac and cheese.
The only one of those I have watched an episode of is Sopranos.
You really should get checked for COVID. Lack of taste and all that.
