Netflix acquired worldwide streaming rights to Seinfeld.
Itās interesting to see the varied reactions to Burr and Chappelleās new specials. I thought both were great, walking a tightrope at times (both purposefully) but thatās what I want to see those guys do.
But again I really donāt see how a previous fan of Burr all of a sudden thinks this is too far. Like his No Reason to Hit a Woman bit was fine but this stuff is too edgy? Most Difficult Job in the World is great but this latest stuff is not woke enough? idk man.
I havenāt watched either new special but Iāve seen a lot of Burr interviews over the years and itās just the same thing over and over again. You canāt say this anymore! Everyone is so offended these days!
We get it dude maybe move on.
Sure if you think itās stale or just not that funny OK. Totally fair, on matters of taste there can be no argument, etc etc. So I guess Iām not so much responding to Namath (just not funny enough) as I am hokie (maybe Iām a snowflake).
I thought his āF is for Familyā was pretty good but it apparently didnāt last long cause I canāt find it anymore unless Iām looking in the wrong place
Itās on Netflix.
That was the first Iād ever seen of his standup, so I have no opinion on his prior stuff. Iāve gathered from previous descriptions that being deliberately offensive seems to be his shtickāso I wasnāt totally blind going into it. I was watching with a friend who used to work as a counselor in a womenās center, and once we got to the MeToo section of his bit we decided that weād had enough.
We laughed out loud a few times, but most of it just came off as cringey and out-of-touch. It would probably have been pretty funny in 2015, but what does that say about it?
Hit the nail on the head here.
What people miss is that Bill is bitching and complaining about not being able to say anything while saying those exact things. He acknowledges the new taboos and then breaks straight through it. Kind of a go fuck yourself undertone to his act.
F is for Family was super-disappointing. The first season had a good cliffhanger but the second didnāt follow through particularly well. Meh at best.
Chappelle was different though. Unlike Bill, who acknowledges that heās a moron, Chappelle was all preachy during the first 30 minutes. Got better in the second half.
I actually have a lot more respect for Chappelleās approach than the feigned moron persona approach that Burr and Rogan use. Rogan and Burr are both using hurr durr Iām just a dumb comedian as a crutch to ask for forgiveness in advance for their anti-woke stuff. When theyāre obviously pretty smart guys and enormously rich and successful. Chappelle just goes straight at it: Iām a famous rich comedian, hereās that perspective. āI was the only black guy in this fancy restaurant, which at the time I found very uncomfortable. Now I rather enjoy it.ā
I thought this was pretty funny. Not hilarious, but funny. I think it would have been better without victim-blaming Rihanna, though. It was still a better ratio of funny to offensive than his MeToo bit.
Anyone watched Unbelievable? Heard good things and was going to watch it but wanted to see if anyone has seen it. The three actresses are all great so I am inclined to like it.
Itās really good. Hard to watch but good.
They should bring back fresh prince of bel air with Will Smith reprising his role as a high school student. I remember watching that show as a kid, and I knew nothing, I had no frame of reference for anything, and even I knew will smith was too old to play high school back then so why not do it again, it was a fun show
terry crews as uncle phil
Or John Goodman
Million Dollars pitch here SA get 1 of his kids involved and have him as the Father.
If you can get Jennifer Aniston involved as the wife, Iād watch it + itās guaranteed to be a hit.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is now king after meeting Friends in NYC
