The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

There is SO much from the 80’s and 90’s that wouldn’t fly today. I mean, shit, look at the big reveal from Ace Ventura, a movie which I’m sure most of us love.

Related: The part that people enjoyed singing the most in “Funky Cold Medina.”

Agree there about Ace Ventura. There’s a more charitable reading where at least some of the characters are disgusted not because she’s a man, man, but because of the deception. There were a LOT of characters clawing at their mouths. I refuse to believe some of those people weren’t gay, bi, trans, pan, etc. and would have loved to make out with her if not for her lies.

The movie makes it a straightforward transphobic joke, though. Just me grieving the loss I guess.

Current frontrunner to play her in the adaptation is Kate McKinnon. I am excited.

wat

Imagine Netflix airing Kinison’s “Louder Than Hell” or Murphy’s “Delirious” today lol

It’s already in the works. Slated to be a TV series, but there is speculation it might work better as a feature.

JFC.

Ex and I tried to watch Blazing Saddles last year when it was on Netflix and she turned it off

Hence why she is an ex

I tried explaining how the biggest theme of the movie was to highlight the absurdity of racism but she couldn’t stand the word.

But even that would never get green lit today.

You sure?

This movie released in late 2018 is already a cult classic. Produced by Eminem. Directed by Joseph Kahn.

The idea that you can’t trust expert’s words on things anymore is one reason we’re all fucked. Dave is a nice guy and everything but I know he doesn’t have a medical background and isn’t qualified to challenge what the CDC is saying. Sure, most things you “know” are just things heard from a guy, but that’s how knowledge works. You heard from a guy that 2+2 = 4, you didn’t do any proofs to prove it to yourself. This is a time when questioning experts can kill people so I don’t want to hear any influencers with this “well, I don’t know if I can even see this” shit.

Harsh but fair.

Nah, not even harsh. Just true.

It would help if experts didn’t lie to us all the time. Like, ALL the time.

I didn’t say it wasn’t partly the expert’s fault. But mostly it’s the 1% trying to keep their 1% by any means necessary.

Breaking All The Rules was better

I’ll have dementia and be acting out Kinison’s last bit

Just watched Shaun of the Dead on Netflix. Shame how so few people outside of the UK/Ireland have seen it.

Marrying Millions on Hulu.

Young poor person marries someone wealthy. Friends and family on both sides argue. Twists, turns, reveals. Oh my. A fair mix of rich guys vs rich girls.

One is a well-to-do mom. Had daughter at 19, daughter is now 18. While the daughter was away, the mom began dating a guy a few years older than her daughter. They intend to get married. Drama ensues upon the daughter’s return.

I assume it’s all fake and am watching it more out of interest in what storylines the producers concoct. You work with what the actors/sugar families provide.

Yeah delirious and raw were hysterical when I first saw them over and over but they are unwatchable around people who have never seen them. It is weird.

That being said comedy is one of those things that ages very poorly.
