Anybody watch Mayor of Kingstown? Looks interesting.
nathan said it was a threesome with two guys, not with two āotherā guys. and anthony napoli contested it, claiming it was with two women. and normally i would side with him but he didnāt seem too confident when asked how many jews were killed in the holocaust in a later episode so idk about anthony napoli and what heās really up to
Iāve seen the first two episodes and enjoyed it so far. Solid cast. Renner in particular is doing a good job and seems suited for the character. It kinda drops you in the middle of the action from the start without a ton of setup, so Iām still feeling out some of the relationships and character backstories, but, so far, I like the world that itās building.
And the pacing is kinda insane. 2 episodes in and there have already been multiple fights, a few murders, and several car accidentsā¦
So far Iād say itās that damn good. Final 3 eps of the 9 episode season drop soon and I canāt wait.
Agreed I think itās great
Gonna binge Cowboy Bebop when I get back. I saw it was 10 episodes, then it saw that it ranged from 45 mins to 60 mins per episode.
Iām not expecting much. Also didnāt see Ed mentioned in any of the synopses. Hopefully, I make it through all 10. I made it through Tiger King 2 but at least that was entertaining in a warped, twisted way.
Wheel of time on released on amazon as well but the reviews are all over the place. I have no idea about the story I only recognize the name. Probably not the priority this weekend
I enjoyed reading Wheel of Time back into the 90s but both me and the high fantasy genre matured a lot since then. I would be surprised if it can be adapted into anything good. As much as we hate George RR Martin for failing to finish his series, and as bad as the end of the HBO series was, Game of Thrones is still way out there on the high tail end of the distribution of quality of fantasy fiction. Wheel of Time is not. It is iconic because it was ahead of its competition in 1990, but it actually kind of sucks if we ser aside our nostalgia. The characters are not nearly rich enough.
I actually read all the WoT books (lol) and enjoyed the first 2 amazon episodes. The production quality is high and thereās some good Trolloc killing action. Its true though that the story canāt compete with stuff like Game of Thrones and LotR, and people are still sour from the GoT ending sucking and the Hobbit trilogy sucking and thereās probably just a lot of fantasy fatigue out there in general. For me though, the amazon series is starting off on par with something like The Witcher Netflix series which is good, and enough to keep me watching.
Ow, live action Cowboy Bebop is not good.
No idea why they made Jet so damn whiny. What am I gonna get for my daughterās birthday? AFAIK, he didnāt have a daughter. So I have no idea why itās brought up like itās something weāre supposed to care about. Hope it doesnāt become a gimmick in the rest of the show.
They also introduced nearly all of the relevant characters in the first episode. Unfortunately, everything about all of them is mediocre at best. Never really liked Faye as a character but Vicious is really poorly acted. The guy speaks with a zombie-like cadence. Evidently, Asimov (the target from the first episode) was supposedly connected to him. Also, Spikeās nickname when part of the Syndicate was Fearless. Been a while since I saw the anime, but I donāt remember a nickname.
In the original series the payoff at the end of her story arc is pretty terrific though. Some serious feels.
That is true. But she spends a lot of time being a bitch before then.
Overall, I see no reason to watch the live action version with the anime also available on Netflix. The live action feels like a cheap imitation thatās been molded into something that appears bingeworthy.
Iāve only watched the short clip below, is it representative of the show? no idea wtf they are going for if so, the dialogue seems like itās taken from a bad seinfeld episode. Maybe itās less shocking if you havenāt seen the anime idkā¦

There is quite a bit of banter between Jet and Spike as one would expect between partners. It isnāt as cringey as that was though.
From that clip, the dialogue seemed fine, but the acting/pace was a bit off. Not sure what it was, maybe they waited a beat too long to respond/react to each other?
In a vacuum, I see the comparison between that scene and a scene at the diner in Seinfeld.
Thought the topic was out of character for Jet. Then again for whatever reason the guy was bitching about not getting a present for his so far non-existent daughter.
Iāve never seen the anime, so I have nothing to which to compare it. Iāll probably check out this live action version - looks fun.
Netflix has the anime. I recommend watching that instead.
Ten episodes and no Radical Edward? That is a cowardly decision by Netflix!
Forget that man, watch the anime!
