Agreed on the characters part. I liked the material in S1, and S2 becomes a very different kind of show but with mostly the same shitty characters.
Same. I never even found out what happened with Ed Harrisâ character (I assume something happened based on his absence from later previews but I never bothered to find out what that was). I just skipped a night one week and then was like, fuck it. I almost never do that. Unless itâs just impossibly bad I will usually stick with a series as least through the current season, even if I donât go back to it after. I guess part of it is that I know itâs there on demand, so whatâs the rush? But mostly itâs just not that good.
Westworld seems to have been created to appeal to highly obsessive internet fanboys who enjoy sussing out obscure plots spanning multiple timelines with minimal clues.
I think S1 had some genuinely interesting things to say about consciousness, humanness, free will, and AI. Admittedly that is very much a sweet spot for me, entertainment wise, but I loved it even if you ignore the timeline sleuthing stuff.
Then season 2 was just like âoh you like timeline stuff? ok hereâs some incomprehensible argle bargle timeline switching with a bunch of violence sprinkled inâ. And it pretty much completely moved on from any of the philosophical stuff.
I think I just wanted it to be a different show than what they envisioned.
This is exactly how I felt. Iâm mildly excited for Season 3 with the hope that it will explore some of the S1 themes you highlighted, but now with the hosts interacting with unaware humans in the real world. If it loses those themes, it just becomes a mediocre drama full of violence and titties⌠actually, sounds like they found a replacement for Game of Thrones.
If its not good, theyâve certainly done a good job on the S3 trailers, because it sure seems like its going to be good.
Also in for Aaron Paul.
I thought the worst thing about season 2 was that they were effectively different characters. I mean they were literally the same but when you can reprogram half of them they become different and not better.
Also as mentioned the show turns from a philosophical thing into a shallower action show. It was still decent but heavy on unnecessary filler, couldâve been done with way less episodes.
Oh I disagree. Season one was disjointed and struggling to figure out what to do, where to go. It had Lost syndrome. So many mystery boxes and not a damn clue what to do with them.
Season two was awesome. Loved the expansion, the payoff for multiple characters. It retroactively gave value and hooks to the most frustrating parts of season one.
Season three hype is huge for me. Iâll watch anything Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy make. The only way to make my hype any bigger would be if they convinced Chris Nolan to direct an episode. The brothers finally back together!
i binged better call saul s4 on netflix. so good. better than breaking bad. 6 bags of popcorn

Isnât it??? I remember being stunned at how good it is. I thought itâd be a fun but forgettable season one. Instead itâs must-see TV.
Welp, you guys were right. Watchmen season 1 GOAT.
Really? I still havenât gotten around to watching the last episode but I didnât like it at all. I thought it might be interesting if that FBI lady was the hero and the central theme of the show would be âDo you know how to tell the difference between a masked cop and a vigilante? Me either.â But that certainly didnât pan out.
And Dr. Manhattan experiences time differently then all of us? Well OK man but I donât and that doesnât make me care about your dumb relationship with Angela. Like the show didnât even try to show any sort of bond between Angela and Calvin â heâs ignored for the first six episodes! Donât tell me you cared about Angela and Calvinâs relationship before it was revealed that Calvin was actually Dr. Manhattan. Thereâs nothing there! And weâre supposed to care once itâs revealed heâs Dr. Manhattan becauseâŚwhy?
Itâs fine that their relationship didnât resonate with you, but they did a perfectly good job at demonstrating how they were in a relatively healthy loving relationship raising 3 kids with the nice house and the sexy time in the first few weeks of the show. Not sure what you were looking for here. The Dr. Manhattan reveal added a layer of complexity to their love story, which was apparent from the jump.
Im watching the newest season of The Biggest Loser, which of course made me seek out my favorite reality TV clip of all time.
After the first four episodes of Picard, I can say that the show has my full attention. What might bother some is that I see in Patrick Stewartâs work something that reminds me of The Last Jedi and Mark Hamillâs turn as Old Man Luke. Weâre not getting new episodes of TNG; we are getting something that feels different. Discovery was a jarring transition in tone and style for people expecting old Trek sensibility. Picard has a beloved character to smooth the transition for a more deconstructed view of Starfleet.
One of the things I love about the old-school Disney nature documentaries (aside from the incredible full orchestral scores) is that theyâre not afraid to just put some animals on blast. Itâs like âlook at this dumb fukkin sloth, how does it even survive.â I love that shit. I wish David Attenborough would do a show where he just dunks on animals that suck.
Goddamn I wish I could extra like this. I quote this all the time and everyone gets all âwtf?â
âimagine picking up a moving burrito with your feet while riding a bicycleâ hahaha
