Started catching up on Archer after not watching it since Season 4 or so many years ago.
Started Season 9 and what the actual fuck is this shit? Season 8 wasn’t what I’d call “good” and Seasons 6 and 7 had their fair share of clunkers. But Season 9 is the worst thing I’ve seen in quite some time (at least the beginning is, don’t really see how it’s going to get better).

Season 2 of For All Mankind was way better than S1. The ending was phenomenal and I’m hooked. Worth the watch if you haven’t yet.
Wow, I gave up half way through S2. It felt like it was a bit more soap opera than space opera for my liking.
I’m with you that there is a significant lul in the middle but the last few episodes made it worth it.
I like it, but I acknowledge that people who want stuff that resembles the first few seasons might be unhappy. It’s the same show, but it’s also different.
Archer is unwatchable after S6 or something. Wonder if they’ll just give up the ghost now that Walter is gone.

Yeah I quit Archer sometime I think in season 6, when I realized that no matter what they changed up on the surface, the comedy had become incredibly formulaic and predictable, just like [obscure reference only made because it’s so obscure that it shows how clever the writers are].
Best to skip the coma seasons and get to the most recent one. The coma seasons came off as, “Dammit, I’m outta ideas but people keep watching!” I mean one is just experimentation but the second and third seemed lazy.
No idea how they’ll go forward now that Jessica Walter is dead. Apparently, season 12 airs August 25th though.
It’s actually pretty impressive how long the show lasted given that one guy wrote every episode for the first 9 seasons and most of the 10th.
