The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

An American friend of mine lived in Japan from age 18 to 28 and thus had little experience with tipping.

After he moved back to the states, heā€™d enrage me when we went out to eat and heā€™d begrudgingly leave a $1 tip, complaining even about that, no matter the size of bill. Iā€™d inevitably make up the difference, but no amount of lecturing would change his ways.

As much as I agreed then and still do that the tipping system is asinine and am thankful to live in a non-tipping culture, stiffing workers whose livelihoods depend on tips is not cool.

I think Iā€™ve watched the Bo Burnham ā€œWelcome to the Internetā€ song like 6-8 times. Just incredibly well written and delivered.

ā€œCan I interest you in everything, all of the timeā€ is as good of a summation of the internet as Iā€™ve ever heard.

Outstanding.

In other return news, Rick and Morty is slated to return June 20; Ted Lasso season 2 drops July 21; and What We Do in the Shadows is back for season 3 starting September 2.

Bo Burnhamā€™s Inside is simply genius. I literally laughed and cried. Itā€™s the best therapy session about the pandemic I can imagine.

Just brilliant.

I just finished it as well. The constant back and forth between ā€œkayfabeā€ and reality was astonishing. Bo is insanely talented and he deserves all the awards and praise.

Pandemic didnā€™t change anything for me really so the special didnā€™t work as well as it did for others.

Iā€™m glad I watched Boā€™s show. I really liked the meta aspects and thinking about how he put it together. I didnā€™t find much of it funny, but then Iā€™ve never really been a Weird Al kinda guy.

This is exactly how I felt watching it. Talented guy for sure but just not super funny to me.

Itsā€¦ a thing. heā€™s 15 years younger than me so Iā€™m not sure what to make of a lot of it. But man if you canā€™t laugh/enjoy this youā€™re nuts.

Just thought I would mention a few older shows that people may not have seen that are worth a watch.

Big Love - a great show that I insisted my very reluctant bf watch the 1st episode of and he was totally hooked.
Carnivale- so creepy that if I went to bed before my bf I insisted my dog come with me. Cancelled too early.
The Riches-Also cancelled too early.
Spaced- UK comedy Simon Pegg
Him & Her- Uk comedy Russell Tovey

Thereā€™s heaps of others. Iā€™ll list them at a later point.

Was unaware of Bo. Found the youtubez. Nice.

I saw some of Boā€™s early stuff. Some of it was pretty hit or miss, but really funny when it hit, and his talent was clearly well beyond his years. Iā€™ll definitely be checking this out later.

I remember seeing his original stuff many years ago and thinking it was really well done, especially considering he was just a high school kid at the time (New Math comes to mind, canā€™t remember the others). Glad to see heā€™s still around, Iā€™ll have to check it out as well

Fun/surprising fact about Bo Burnham: heā€™s playing Larry Bird in the upcoming LA Lakers series on HBO.

Burnhan also plays a small role in one of the best romantic comedies of the past ten years. Big Sick.
