Depends whether it’s this version of Velma
It’s a Sin is an amazing UK mini series. It’s about a group of friends and the impact of AIDS in the gay community in the 90s. It made me laugh and it made me cry. Highly recommend it.
Almost done with Upload. Have enjoyed. More amusing and clever than laugh out loud funny though some of the technology extrapolations are quite creative.
Yeah, I know Covid put a halt to any immediate season 2 plans, but I hope they resume things once this is over. I enjoyed S1 quite a bit. The concept is strong
last episode of wandavision was supposed to be 90s sitcom style, right?
I have seen this highly recommended in many places. Still hesitant to watch it. Not sure why.
That’s what I thought at first but it had the characters addressing the camera and the video game tech seemed to be from early 2000s. So maybe they skipped the 90s.
To me it most closely resembled Malcolm in The Middle (which I thought started in the late 90’s, but Google says first episode was January 2000)
That was my first impression from the intro as well. They should have gone for Fresh Prince of Bel Air for the distinctly 90’s style or maybe Home Improvement could work well too.
Home Improvement is the correct answer for quintessential 90s sitcom style.
Yea the big sitcoms of the 90’s were Seinfeld, Fresh Prince, Home Improvement, Friends, and The Simpsons. Seinfeld and Friends wouldn’t work because they’re not based around a family. I guess they just skipped the 90’s.
Maybe the Simpsons could work and turn the town into a cartoon for an episode. This could also work for the 2000’s as they were quite a few cartoon sitcoms.
i thought it was most similar to malcolm in the middle, and maybe some BH90210 with the visiting brother.
Sabrina the Teenaged Witch could have worked for the 90’s. Family Matters (started in 89) and Fresh Prince were iconic, but they might have been concerned about the cross racial aspects.
Seinfeld obviously not a family show, but, man, would I have liked to see Kathryn Hahn as Kramer
Finished a second watch of this yesterday and it’s great on rewatch too.
I enjoyed it. I found it creative and moving. Not the life-changing event some reviews made it out to be.
the latest WV episode was most definitely Malcom in the Middle, even down to the font used in the intro.
I figure they might do one more 2010’s/modern style before leaving the sitcom emulation behind entirely.
That got a lot of little things right. The hand phone, tactile suits, cars being set to protect pedestrian or protect occupant…
I watched the new Hanks film on netflix yesterday. Nothing exciting. The buffalo scene just made me angry again at these crimes durin that time. Fuck Custer, Grant and Sherman for this Buffalo killing spree.
Netflix also released some of my favourite childhood films, Winnetou I-III, but with the knowledge of history i have now I can barely watch this anymore. This approach of trying to be nice with the settlers and the “white father in Washington” just tilts me.
