The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

I remember that now that you’ve reminded me. But I literally could not remember what the show told me he was doing when I was reviewing the episode, which is also somehow the perfect ending for him.

the astronomy club sketch show on netflix was pretty good. it kept me watching all the way through and i wasn’t bored. not as gut-busting for me as the tim robinson show or the whitest kids u know but there are a ton of jokes specifically aimed at a black audience. my favorite sketches were kat williams assistant english teacher and the recurring reality tv show house skits especially ice cube day.

I’ve been watching more Spanish-language Netflix, Ingobernable is pretty great so far. It’s like, what if Melania threw Trump off a building and went on the run in Mexico City. And if she had 007 skills.

Sé quién eres (I know who you are) is pretty good. Not sure if it’s on NF though.

The Boys on Amazon about superheroes who have been taken corporate was pretty damn good. This is a very adult take on a genre I do not watch a lot (haven’t seen any Marvel stuff since Black Panther). This tho is as much about familiar dramatic storylines like corporate intrigue, and a search for justice as it’s about flawed super people doing flawed super people stuff. Good watch. Easy to binge

S2 will have a nazi based superheroin portrayed by Aya Cash. It should be fantastic

Okay, Michelle Wolf is hilarious.

Anytime somebody throws the women aren’t funny take at you, tie them down Clockwork Orange style and make them watch her latest special.

Supervillain methinks. Have you read the source material?

I havent. For some reason i thought she was going to be part of the 7. At least introduced as a reformed nazi. The heroes are essentially villains anyway, maybe she morphs into an actual villain against the 7?

Superheroine*

They already did super heroin in season 1

Superheroin = Fentanyl

I binged watched Silicon Valley over the past few weeks. I know nothing of computers. How realistic was that whole inside out internet Richard was trying to develop?

I also didn’t like Richard’s character development as the series went on. He went from this dorky nerdy kid that just wanted to code to being this ruthless asshole at times that took pleasure in being a dickhead. It would have made sense if he was rich but the entire premise of the show was the company struggling for money.

I think the point of Richard’s character is that even the concept of possibly being rich to the level Pied Piper can lead him has the ability to corrupt. Throughout, he is essentially evolving the same way that Gavin did, from his garage in Palo Alto to ruthless business man who uses endangered animals as props and then drops them in the ocean when they die.

The last episode goes a long way to redeeming Richard, I think, and not in an unearned way.

Did you have a favorite character? I love the show immensely. Mike judge has somehow created some of the best tv of the 90s (Beavis and Butthead, yes maybe not top tier TV, but for its time the satire was deep, biting, and well done) , 00s (King of the Hill should very much be considered one of the all time greatest TV shows. It is absolute perfection nearly 100% of the time) , and 10s (Silicon Valley takes Office Space, improves on it, and holds that level of quality for 5 of its 6 seasons)

As for the tech. Seemingly, Weismann score is a fake metric created for the show but has been used by companies like dropbox to explain their compression algorithm.

According to this medium post, a version of it has been created for real life use.

The Crisis cameos are even better in episodes 2 and 3, including an appearance by the best Batman ever.
