The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

I’m the exact same and have made it mostly through season one. It’s good. Not blowing me away but good.

I haven’t read the comic, but enjoying the show I’ve read a bit about the comic and I think you can see where they struggle adapting source material that is absolutely bonkers.

Felt the same way watching GOT at times. You’d think “what’s up with this plot point” and the answer is just “well, its in the book.”

yeah it’s very good

Watch it. You’ll probably know in the first ten minutes. It’s that kind of show.

I don’t hate superhero stuff but it doesn’t really do much for me and I got through season 1 pretty easily. It’s a cool show with a different take on superheroes. I’m looking forward to catching up with season 2.

Nope, theaters are going to be the next big properties that are chronicled on those urban explorer blogs. They are too big for anything else to occupy them right now. If Cinemark, Regal, or AMC go out of business here in the states, its going to be massive amounts of empty buildings. It reminds me a bit of the mallapocalypse that happened when online buying became a thing.

If theaters can’t be up and running by the time summer 21 comes around, studios are going to have no choice other than to start dumping their blockbusters to streaming services to look for new revenue streams. They can’t sit on these movies forever.

Also, I’ve heard really good things about One Cut of the Dead. Excited to check it out based on your recommends.

Also, how good is Shudder? It seems like they have taken a niche genre and turned it into a pretty decent streaming service. Its like Quibi sorta, but good.

Wait what? That scene is super essential.

Being essential makes it neither not telegraphed nor not possibly off-putting. I don’t really see the disagreement between your two posts.
If econophle‘s SO did not like that scene, she will probably not like the tone of the series.

Fair point.

Yeah, if she didn’t like that airplane scene…

On it being telegraphed, I guess it depends on what context you watch the episode with. I had seen some of advertising for Season 1 and new that Homelander was a bad “good guy” from cultural osmosis. But my wife literally didn’t even know that this show existed.

Still, there was some heavy foreshadowing that something bad was going to happen at the end.

Grunch. Succession is great. It reinforces my belief that being rich doesn’t make you happy.

Star Trek Lower Decks, episode 9, Crisis Point.

Shit just got real. I think they’ve established the main characters enough now to where they can start playing around and they’ve began a storyline where episodes can no longer stand by themselves and certain characters have an obvious trajectory for growth.

It’s a holodeck adventure where characters act in different identities and you can’t write that sort of story without all of those early episodes that tell you what to expect even if that previous stuff is kind of fluffy. I love shit like alternate timelines and time travel that play with how we expect people to act. Role-playing on the holodeck can be similar.

Yep it’s the best cooking show by a mile. So fun and I learn a lot.

binged Utopia on amazon prime and i liked it, it had a great theme and i was into it. they made some decisions that were very offputting for me as a viewer and it left me watching most of the season thinking anything can happen at any moment, which i guess is the idea and part of the fun
