Yeah I haven’t watched the last like 10 seasons. I wonder if it got worse or I’ve realized the errors of my ways as I’ve become more radicalized.
South Park peaked at “Dude, don’t say ‘pig fucker’ in front of Jesus.” It’s been downhill ever since.
Lulz. Plus the way she treats Atrain the first five episodes
Also, the most recent episode was… something else.
My first watch on Shudder was Host. A group of friends has a seance over Zoom. Never a good idea imo. The movie is watchable imo. Becomes repetitive after a while but I feel like that’s the same for a lot of horror movies.
Which episode is that? Theyve gone pretty hard on transgender issues for a long time. Sse Mr. -----> Mrs. Garrison, and thoughts on Kaitlyn Jenner
Didn’t mind/care about the ms garrison stuff, but this was pretty awful.
Pretty much every South Park political take has aged very poorly. It’s amazing how well The Simpsons/Futurama have.
Aren’t the South Park guys white male American libertarians?
Wow. Never saw it. Huh
Book of Mormon though
Especially Sideshow Bob Roberts. It’s an incredible episode of political satire. That and the Kang and Kodos become Clinton and Gore treehouse episode, which is amazing.
Yeah. From Colorado, in fact! (South Park is a real town; Casa Bonita is < 10 minutes from where I live)
Man those shows hold up so well. I could watch “Deep Space Homer” every day and not get tired of it. Went through some Futurama a few months back as well, still solid gold.
(Of course, in both cases, I’m talking about the classic runs; the newer stuff ranges from “less good” to “bad.”)
Watching the true crime doc on Netflix, 5 minutes in, and I’m already feeling dread. Social media makes everyone’s lives feel intimate and camera filming events really makes it feel like you’re in the moment dealing with real people right in front of you rather than being removed from the situation.
They’re saying it’s temporary and they hope to reopen next year - like a lot of places I guess.
Next on Shudder I watched One Cut of the Dead. It’s a Japanese film about a crew filming a zombie movie in one take when actual zombies appear and disrupt the process. It’s a nice little gem.
Watched ep 1 of The Boys with my wife last night. She didn’t like Starlight getting sexually coerced, but she started to get back into the episode. Unfortunately, the final scene with Homelander (which I think was pretty clearly telegraphed) may have lost her for good.
I know everyone says great things about this, but it still exceeded my expectations. Who would have thought superheroes could be such a great allegory for the ills of capitalism?
If you hate superheroes it’s the show for you. And if the first episode doesn’t grab you you can safely turn it off I think, it hits its stride right away.
By the way, Corporate on Comedy Central is incredible.
