Fargo S4 early reviews are strong.
awww yea lets go
Both Bad Boys movies and The Rock
I’ve tried so hard to like Bad Boys, but I can’t get into the incomprehensible scripts. The memes are great though.
You just blew my mind, dude, I loved Bad Boys back in the 90’s but I somehow never knew that Michael Bay was the director. Martin Lawrence and Will Smith in their prime, two of the most charismatic, comedic actors ever. What a great watch.
What? The whole movie is just Martin Lawrence and Will Smith who are bros and they do funny bro shit. There’s nothing complicated about it. Have you ever seen Blue Streak? With Martin Lawrence and Ohio’s own Dave Chapelle? I’m pretty sure they improvised like half of the scenes in this movie.
Blue Streak is a great point. Okay you’re right. There are other Lawrence and Smith projects I like. And there are for sure a ton of semi to mostly improvised movies that I adore. I guess it’s more that I hold Bay’s oeuvre in lower esteem by the year.
The 1990s was a crazy era for film in a lot of ways. You could do a low-budget buddy cop film with two stand-up comedians and Luke Wilson and it would become a smash hit. According to wikipedia, Blue Streak was based on a 1965 British comedy that I absolutely have to see.
Got me to check the link. The plot sounds pretty good. You really like the oldish stuff.
I’ve never seen that one, but as someone who grew up watching a million films with those people in on British TV I can confirm it will be excellent. Should track it down myself.
Edit - An unofficial Carry On film?! It will be double excellent.
I’ve never looked this up, but I am 100% convinced that many of the scenes in Blue Streak were 100% improvised riffing between Martin Lawrence and Dave Chappelle. It’s just two brilliant comedians in their prime fucking around on set and the movie blew up because it’s so great.
Another day, another contrarian TV opinion for me to grouse about
I never heard of this or considered looking into more by the creator because I assumed Patriot was a one-off beautiful fluke. But they nailed it again with this one. I miss the main guy from Patriot and the new main guy I know I should recognize from Westworld and house of cards and other stuff because he’s a good actor and he’s in a lot of stuff but to me he’ll always be Doyle McPoyle. the atmosphere and dark comedy thriller theme here grips me so good. Plus Ben Kingsley lol like it’s already a 5-bagger and they put Ben Kingsley in a major role anyway.
Perpetual Grace LTD 5 bags
- The Rock
- Pain and Gain
- Transformers
- 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Ben Gazi
- Armageddon
- Bad Boys
- Transformers: Dark of the Moon
- The Island
- Pearl Harbor
- Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
- Transformers: Age of Extinction
I consider 1-4 to be legitimate good movies and 5-8 to be guilty pleasures with some redeeming qualities. Dark of the Moon sucked but the scene where the Decepticons destroy Chicago was amazing. 9-11 straight up suck but the Pearl Harbor scene in Pearl Harbor was pretty great.
edit: forgot Bad Boys 2, it’s probably between The Island and T:DotM. Definetly in flawed but guilty pleasure with redeeming qualities, namely
Ranking Bay films is like ranking all the times you had uncontrollable explosive diarrhea.
Strongly disagree, diarrhea has a valid and legitimate purpose as an immune system response. Michael Bay’s movies are objectively worse than diarrhea.
how many of those movies I ranked have you seen?
pretty sure Bad Boys was his first big box office type movie, nice start to a career
I love Blue Streak, I had my wife watch it with me a month back and she (a typical 30 year old who knows nothing about 90s era movies) thought it was pretty good
Sadly a bit more than half
Bay certainly isn’t making amazing films but he knows how to blow shit up and make an entertaining action movie, I give him credit for that
