was browsing semi-randomly on hbomax and saw this show iā€™ve never heard of before: Enlightened

laura dern stars as a reformed asshole. sheā€™s a business-focused lady who had a mental break and goes off to a spiritual yoga-ish retreat, and it legitimately changes her for the better. and the show follows her back in her real life trying to live as a better more enlightened person. i loved it. great acting from laura dern as usual, great supporting actors, great script. some funny parts, some sad parts, lot of thoughtful parts, 5 bags.

Thank you finally sanity

Wife and I just started watching The Boys. Weā€™re through 5 episodes and itā€™s great. End of review.

Man, season 4 of The Twilight Zone is a tough slog to watch through. Crazy how shifting it to a one-hour format absolutely ruined one of the greatest shows ever.

Is anyone watching Away? Iā€™m 2 eps into it and it feels hamfisted but Iā€™m a sucker for sci-fi so I will probably keep watching.

I added it to the list but have been holding off. The trailer made me cry. Iā€™m guessing the show will turn me into a waterfall.

PS: Man, some of the season 4 eps of the TZ would have been incredible if they had been presented as half-hour episodes. Burgess Meredith playing the role of Satan who goes undercover as a newspaperman who gets all the best scoops could have been a phenomenal, punchy half-hour of TV. Instead, the show just draws out the story and repeats itself over and over.

I will watch any old sci-fi trash but I only managed half an hour of this. I couldnā€™t care less about any of the people in it and it was just so dull

I watched S1 and loved it. idk why I havenā€™t stared up S2 yet. It really is a great homage to everything that I loved about both TNG and TOS, while also poking fun how silly Star Trek can be.

I am bored of Seth MacFarlane.

Lower Decks I find pretty funny. Its straight silly, it doesnā€™t really try to be an homage or be ironic or whatever. I recommend.

Lower Decks is not as good as Archer and Bojack is in another stratosphere. Bojack is arguably the best TV show of the past several years.

Me and Mrs Swanky binged both series in a couple of weeks. I really enjoyed it. Iā€™m not quite sure how ir works but tonally it just hit the spot for me.
I liked a description of it that said its like TNG, but whereas the high fliers are on the Enterprise, the Orville is manned by the people who liked to drink a bit much and jerked around at college

Theyā€™re all different versions of Riker?

Enlightened is right up there with Rome and Deadwood in tragically-cancelled HBO shows.

I forgot about the Orville. I liked the couple episodes I saw.
