The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

tell this kid to watch The Shield. just tell him it’s as much ownage but with a much better story and far less ridiculousness.

Glad it lived up to the hype. I can imagine it would be pretty nostalgic to watch having gone there as a kid. There are a couple alpine slides still around today, but alpine coasters have mostly taken over. Same concept, but on rails instead of in a chute.

These reviews are worthless without a trailer.

Grunching, but I see Away on Netflix, and I swear they previously released this show like a year ago, crew goes to space leaving families behind. Am I crazy?

Back to DA 5 BLOODS

It took me like a week to watch this movie because i was liking it but really had no idea what to expect other than they were going to get the gold and Norms remains. I kept having a feeling that something bad was going to happen and for some reason just didn’t want it to happen, mostly because of the landmine foreshadowing with the woman at the bar. Turned out i was right about the landmine.

One thing for sure, is that the entire 2nd half of the movie hinges on the landmine, and how would 4 vietnam vets be doing that shit without at the very least taking a metal detector, i get that they didin’t want a guide for secrecy but come on man you’re just going to waltz through the jungle where there could be lots of mines? Whatever, the 2nd half of the movie is fucking wild though from that point on. Also lol at the asshole of the group being MAGA. I saw it coming that he shot Norm but only a few mins out from the scene.

All in all I liked it a lot more than i thought i would at the halfway point, first half was kinda whatever maybe feelgood story, 2nd half holy shit this is crazy and kinda gory. I was crying a bit through the last scenes though where they were showing what people did and where the money went and stuff.

In 1996 some buddies and I strapped on rollerblades and just went down the steepest hill in our city. My buddy went around a blind curve, right into the path of an oncoming car, swerved and face planted directly into the side of a cliff, were he coming around the other end with the cliff edge on that side he would likely be dead. Instead he just lost a couple teeth and broke his nose

I believe you’re thinking in part of I Am Mother, which was a separate Hillary Swank sci-fi movie on Netflix with a somewhat similar “repopulate another planet” premise.

A teenage girl is raised by a robot designed to repopulate Earth. Their bond is tested when a stranger arrives with alarming news.

Lovecraft country continues to deliver through 3 episodes

Watched Lovecraft Country Episode 3 tonight. My kid would have been in the final scene, when Tic pulled a gun on the white lady in the realtor’s office. It DEFINITELY would have been distracting to the important stuff going on to see my son sticking his tongue out at a girl and the girl pouting right outside the window. Just too bad that they didn’t get into another scene.

Great show, btw.

Oh, nice, I saw the title and wondered if this involved Thomas Piketty. Interested to check it out.

Its a shame he didn’t source that. Im curious where he is getting it from. My guess is the source is highly irreputable and that while the content might be similar to what is mentioned, the scenes are being sensationalized/taken out of context.

Thats my guess, I am not stating fact here as I haven’t seen the movie and likely wont. But, with how much the Q weirdos have been all over this movie, I need much better proof than a blurry screenshot of… some movie review site somewhere?

My best guess - sexist, racist fucks wanted to silence a new black female director getting buzz and found an easy latch on with the anti-pedophilia and Q “child blood sacrifice Hollywood” crowd to form a super tornado of criticism by people who haven’t seen the film.

"It’s excruciating to watch Amy and the other children gyrate and pose as part of the dance group they call Cuties. It’s truly upsetting to see her wear skimpy clothes and bite her lip while staring into a phone lens. The whole movie – which includes a scene where the young actresses don the spandex outfits seen in the maligned promo image – is very hard to get through, especially by its third act. But that’s part of the point: The movie confronts the horrid reality of how accessible imagery and videos can negatively impact children.

“Our girls see that the more a woman is overly sexualized on social media, the more she is successful,” Doucouré says. “Children just imitate what they see, trying to achieve the same result without understanding the meaning. It is dangerous.”"

Thats from the article with the quote by the director herself.

"Writer/director Doucouré, who is of Senegalese descent, says in Netflix press material that she had the idea to make “Cuties” after watching a group of 11-year-olds perform dance moves onstage copied from video clips.

“I was surprised because of their age,” Doucouré says. “I met with hundreds of pre-teens who told me their stories. I needed to know how they felt about their own femininity in today’s society, and how they dealt with their self-image at a time when social media is so important.”"

It sounds super fucked, but that also seems to be the point.

started watching it because i’m a satanist soros-lover and i didn’t expect the girls to be so young. one of them looks like a young aoc lol. it’s just like a standard coming-of-age story. girl lives with a conservative family and she tries to make regular friends and they get into hijinks. bfd
