The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

Seconded. Im almost through the first season and really enjoying it. Some fantastic voice acting

John Boyega dropping hot fire on Disney

What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It’s not good. I’ll say it straight up.

“You guys knew what to do with Daisy Ridley, you knew what to do with Adam Driver. But when it came to Kelly Marie Tran, when it came to John Boyega, you know fuck all. So what do you want me to say? They gave all the nuance to Adam, all the nuance to Daisy.”

“I’m the only cast member who had their own unique experience of that franchise based on their race,” he told British GQ. “Let’s just leave it like that. It makes you angry with a process like that. It makes you much more militant; it changes you. Because you realise, ‘I got given this opportunity but I’m in an industry that wasn’t even ready for me.’

Ah shit lol I was listening to The Worst Bestsellers EP 139 on their favorite books of 2019.

https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/worst-bestsellers/e/66366928

At 1:04:15 they discuss a book called I, Claudia, a YA retelling of I, Claudius hahahahahahaha. They say it’s amazing! She hates historical and fictionalized Roman history but says this is more like I, Claudius meets Veronica Mars.

The hosts assure us that the awful cover should be ignored.

I’m glad you added the parenthetical. Without that, I would have been thinking “The guy from Peep Show?”

Huh. I never really thought of that, but Boyega makes a great point. He was fantastic in Ep. VII (he always is) and I really liked his character. Looking back, yeah, they didn’t really do anything with him after that. I mean, obviously Rey and Kylo Ren were the two main characters, but it sure seemed like Finn was going to be big time.

Yes I agree. Him taking on an injured Kylo with a blue lightsaber had me all sorts of giddy. It hinted at the vast potential for the character. I’d still gladly follow this storyline if they made a new movie starring the Finn from Force Awakens and Last Jedi. The further adventures of Jedi Finn and Rose would have me there on opening day in a hazmat suit.

I mean, I teared up watching this, thinking what it was like to be him at that moment. Can you fucking imagine?

His face and shout and smile at 1:35 makes me weep with joy.

Plus holy shit that was such a great trailer. So many feels. When Han says, “It’s true. All of it. The dark side. The Jedi.” Inject that nostalgia straight into my veins!!!

I think he’s on to something re: his character, but Rose is lol. My wife and I actually burst out laughing in the theater at some scene she was in in episode 8 because her acting was so forced and terrible.

The best star wars movie of late was the force awakens trailer.

In The Last Jedi? To each their own. I thought she gave a great performance. I felt cheated when her role was so much smaller in Rise of Skywalker. But of course that whole movie felt like one letdown after another.

I understand that a lot people didn’t like The Last Jedi. I thought it was excellent.

Looks like Peacock dropped all of season 3 of A.P. Bio last night. We watched the first two episodes and it’s great so far. Episode 1 in particular is hilarious.

Gotta think this is step one to getting Ken as host permanently:
