The Professional says “hi.”
The guy playing Escobar is great too. The show is very good.
That movie is not exactly new tbf.
Only thing I disliked about Perry Mason was the pacing at the end. It was definitely rushed. They needed ten episodes and to use all ten to fully flesh it out. It felt like I got seven episodes of narrative and then one of montages. Actually it reminded me a lot of The Americans finale that way. And the religious angle was kinda dumb tbh.
But otherwise. I liked it a lot and will definitely watch a season 2. The individual performances were quite good. Matthew Rhys killed. I adore the girl who plays Della, Juliet Rylance, and thought she stole the show. Justin Kirk (of Angels in America fame) is a deliciously smug Hamilton Burger and is set up nicely as an antagonist. Also we won’t see them again but Stephen Root and John Lithgow both delivered strong performances as always. It’s got promise, it just needs room to grow imo.
It’s 25 years old.
Watched the second ep of Lovecraft Country. Pretty weird. I thought there was going to be a season long arc about the Braithwrites, but it seems to be shaping up as more of an anthology of sorts.
But how do we feel about the sexualization of a teenager in that part where she changes her clothes to become a woman?
I have no interest in that conversation or any references to it.
Neither did Prince Andrew.
Gotta side with KONY here. I’m surprised by the thread’s reaction. It’s def weird to watch a show that sexualizes kids regardless of the age of the actors. Sex Ed was a pretty good show, but it’s certainly cringey to watch a 16 year old character pretend to masturbate, etc. And I don’t think the analogy to violence works. In many cases violence is portrayed as something regrettable, not something that’s funny or good. And it isn’t illegal to watch a decapitation video or whatever. That must play into our reactions as well.
That Enola Holmes show looks pretty cool, btw.
Just watch Netflix telenovellas if you want shows with lots of sex.
I was too wrapped up in my own angst to find the sex scenes in Normal People either titillating or creepy. But I only watched the first two episodes. Based on the descriptions of the rest of the season from you guys (and from my wife, who apparently watched the whole season and never mentioned it, which is yet another thing for me to dwell upon), I would never be able to handle the rest of it.
Ok, that all sounds fine. I guess I was having a conversation with myself about the show Sex Ed where the kids are like 15-16. There was some other show called Pen15 that I nope’d out of in like 10 minutes that was similar but with 12 year olds or something.
One of the only scenes I saw were the 30-year-old leads pretending to be 13-year-olds ogling actual 13-year-old boys. Got a “Wut” from the Mrs. and we switched over to Star Trek Voyager instead.
Same actress except the film was Hard Candy, in which her character uses herself as bait in order to set up a date with a pedophile so that she can drug and torture him as revenge for the other girls he abused.
[Subconscious responses to stimuli are a hell of a drug]
This is a pretty good movie. Crazy premise. Was hard to watch.
Started watching Black Monday over the weekend. First two episodes, at least, are a lot of fun.
Yep. I found it a hard watch as a woman, would imagine that it is a very different but probably more difficult watch as a man.
