The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

Yeah, Woodward said that The Equalizer was Callan after he managed to get out. I’ve never seen it, I was too young to stay up for it when it was on British TV, but I am considering giving it a look after Callan.

Why can’t Samantha Bee make me laugh? It’s obvious that she is trying really hard

I’m the same. I don’t really get her either.

Reminds me of this:

Jesus christ Dark is so good.

Last night I fell asleep watching and was woken up like 30 mins later to ( spoilers ahead )

To the scene where the Chief of police is figuring out Ulrich is the past and they’re creating the black hole and the song a quiet life for me plays and it gave me chills and I rewatched it three times. Also the actor who plays the fucked up preacher is super good. I’m watching it dubbed in english, I normally don’t mind subtitles at all but I’ve super enjoyed the quality dub and the voice actor who plays him fucking crushes so hard.

Bigly spoilers

I started out thinking Bryan Voltaggio was the obvious favorite, but by the second half it was clear that the whole thing was Melissa’s to lose. She just kept crushing everything. Really wish Gregory had made it to the finale. He was solid all season and deserved to be there. Guessing his back problems were what did him in on the penultimate challenge.

I’ve seen every season. This was by far my favourite. Loved all three finalists.

I thought she was hilarious when she was fighting school integration in New York City, bashing Bernie Sanders as racist and sexist, and inviting Glenn Beck onto her show.

(More serious answer, she’s not funny for the same reason a lot of these late-night comedians who talk politics aren’t funny: Their jokes are often shallow pandering because their position necessitates not seriously critiquing anything on a systemic level.)

Now back to television.

Ah, yeah, that one’s a favorite of mine. The difference here is that the Jack Garbarino news segments are 100% real.

Definitely the best in awhile. The quality of the last half dozen or so seasons seemed to be a bit off the peak, but this was right back up there as a reminder of how good the show can be.

I felt so bad for Gregory. Read he spent days in bed before he could even leave Italy. He was my top two favourite along with Melissa.

She was one of the worst daily show correspondents when Jon Stewart was still in his prime. Her husband was just so much better than her at their job.

Kind of amazing (perhaps sad) that the media fell for Nathan For You schemes multiple times.

Most of their material isn’t even jokes. Colbert’s monologues are basically, “Look at that thing Trump did hahaha!”.

Hasan Minhaj and John Oliver are the best with political comedy shows imo

I don’t approve of the title change

Rememory on Netflix is fantastic. Great for fans of The Outsider in that it is a high concept murder mystery that contains so much more. Starring Peter Dinklage of GoT/Tyrion fame, as well as goddess Julia Ormond and the late Anton Yelchin, and a surprise appearance by Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond from LOST).

An amateur sleuth steals a machine that can extract, record, and play the memories of another person, and uses the device to try and solve the mysterious death of the man who invented it.

Next on the list, a classic from 1997:

I have no opinion but would like to offer a temp ban to the first person to confess they did it

I’ve been waiting for an excuse tbh
