and this conversation has already been had umpteen times. advance the discussion. the historical context wrt to people of color is pretty universally understood. we are here and now.
agreed, but where is the intent focused? rampant ignorance will remain. re-imaging the framework - improving policing, involving the community etc…etc etc… whatever the entirety of the concept is - will take time.
how about providing the affected population with actual tools they can use to improve outcomes now?!
What is achieved by all these cutsie synopses on the history of racism? They had it hard. No. They had it harder than hard. Ok far out. Ironic points of light still flaunt a way forward, a way out.

Nobody has wanted half of this stuff that tv shows and social media companies have been doing but they do it so they can try and say we are doing something
On more than 1 occasion, I’ve said that if these protests were about economic justice I’d be all about it.
When there exist innumerable examples of success, those stories need to be used as template for wider success.
Now that is a colossal undertaking, I’ll grant you, but it has been demonstrated and is tangible. The alternative, which seems to be the preferred option in this forum, is an even more titanic undertaking without precedent.
And it could be a hybrid of the 2, with mutual effort and good faith.
