The Supreme Court: RIP Literally Everything

not bad, closer than eyebooger

I couldn’t remember who the old liberal was who got replaced before Souter (Stevens). I seem to remember him having a good opinion in Bush v. Gore and that he was a good justice. Couldn’t remember the last liberal like that, thought it was Byron ‘Wizzer’ White, but couldn’t remember when he went so guessed wrong on him.

I was thinking about this the other day.

Ketanji Brown Jackson/Steven Breyer
Amy Coney Barrett/Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Brett Kavanaugh/Anthony Kennedy
Neil Gorsuch/Antonin Scalia
Sonia Sotomayor/David Souter
Elena Kagan/John Paul Stevens
Samuel Alito/Sandra Day O’Connor
John Roberts/William Rehnquist
Clarence Thomas/Thurgood Marshall

LOL. We’re out of “originalist” arguments now and onto whatever this is…

Justice Brett Kavanaugh, a Trump nominee, worried that the prohibition would “ensnare” Americans who weren’t aware of it.

“Even if you’re not aware of the legal prohibition, you can be convicted,” Kavanaugh told the attorney representing the Biden administration. “That’s going to ensnare a lot of people who are not aware of the legal prohibition.”

Seems like they plan to rule fuck yeah the president has blanket immunity, but wanna wait until after Biden is out office first

They’re gonna rule by the end of June/beginning of July so not quite. They just want to run as much clock as they possibly can before ruling either 7-2 or maybe 6-3 that “nah he doesn’t have immunity but we just wanted to be really sure with a case of this magnitude”. And the press will lap that shit up and many articles will be written about how reasonable and thoughtful they are and the system is working great and blah blah blah.
