I’m sure there are some Republicans want to ban interracial marriage and quite a few who don’t care enough to go out of their way to stop them, but there are enough to prevent that from actually happening. However, they absolutely would be fine with permitting businesses to discriminate against interracial couples or for schools to ban interracial dating.
So this bill directly goes after Griswold, and in order to uphold Griswold, SCOTUS would have to rule for a right to privacy contrary to the draft ruling in Dobbs.
Mom could do a medical abortion herself. Although they are prescription meds, getting them without a prescription is not that difficult using the magic of the interwebs.
It doesn’t matter if the life was actually threatened. It just matters if she was in fear for her life. She just needs to claim that she felt something weird, was in fear for her life and took the pills. There are enough pro-choice people around that I think getting a conviction should be tough.
Come to think of it, jury nullification seems like the end boss that the right is going to have a hard time getting over when it comes to going after the women. You’re gonna have to get 12 people to agree to put a woman in jail for getting an abortion. Seems that should be extremely difficult.
