The Supreme Court: RIP Literally Everything

Oh I was confused because suzzer edited the post you replied to and removed that quote, so I never saw that one.

Speaking of Ben I went to check out his latest but didnā€™t realize twitter banned him, at least it looked that way to me.

On whoā€™s reacting to who weaponizing the courts

I donā€™t care if my pony was aborted in the starting gate. Never said any better.

The biggest giveaway that conservatives are full of shit on abortion is they claim itā€™s because they care about human life.

The only thing that prevents federal abortion restrictions in the long run is the filibuster.

I didnā€™t edit it. Itā€™s still there.

Oh, I missed the beginning of the conversation and thought your post with the quote via the MSNBC site was the post that started the conversation.

Yes, thatā€™s all it takes, but again, the idea that the conservative justices will feel beholden to the logic used to strike down Roe when they adjudicate other cases strikes me as unlikely.

Theyā€™re striking down Roe because they want abortion banned as much as possible. That Roe goes against their judicial philosophies plays at most a minor roll. None of these justices are actually pro-choice but bound by the honor of the court to rule this way.

They would 100% rule legislation protecting abortion unconstitutional because commerce clause then uphold a ban because equal protection

Should we have a separate thread for non-judicial abortion stuff?

Dems are playing political games, as I guess they should. She supports codifying Roe but not anything else. Since they know theyā€™re not going to be able to pass anything, they might as well make her vote against their bill rather than letting her enhance her moderate creds.

Banning oral contraceptives isnā€™t the short-term aim for the RWNJs. Itā€™s removing the requirement for healthcare plans to cover oral contraceptives.

Which, for tens of millions of American women, is effectively the same thing.

Well if they didnā€™t have to cover contraceptives anymore, then those plans would get cheapehahahahahahahahahahā€¦ Sorry, couldnā€™t finish the sentence.

Itā€™s not the cost, unfortunately. Itā€™s private for profit corporations wanting to exercise their religious freedumb, which birth control apparently violates.

Hobby Lobby v Burwell 5-4 episode is highly instructive.

Iā€™m at another rally at the Utah Capitol. Iā€™d say twice as big as before. Itā€™s kind of surprising bc thereā€™s limited parking and local street closures. Much younger crowd. Better organized. Way louder. These people are pissed off.

yeah lets hope it matters election day. Oh is that something better to do? Fuck yeah Iā€™m not 25 yet.

Wrong thread

Conservatives did good by leaking it now. Greater chance of this fervor burning out than if they waited until the actual release of the decision for people to find out.
