If you guys need any help the british are great at dividing countries up with zero adverse consequences. Iraq/Iran, India/Pakistan, Israel/Palestine just knocking out of the park over and over.
just look at how well partitioning their own country went! A+++++ would partition again
Splitting the country isnât really viable because itâs more of an urban-rural divide, not a red-blue state divide.
I think Lincolnâs"House Divided" speech applies here.
I do not expect the Union to be dissolved - I do not expect the house to fall - but I do expect it will cease to be divided.
It will become all one thing, or all the other.
I guess even before ireland was partitioned it wasnât âreallyâ part of the UK so thatâs probably a bad example
Also poor people who canât move to a California where in this situation property prices/rent would be utterly insane. Moreso than already.
Iâm sure conservatives will finally shut up about being persecuted for their beliefs now that theyâve gotten what they want.

Republicans should go back to where they came from.
Roberts is irrelevant now, as this decision demonstrates. This is Clarence Thomasâs court.
The jizz icing on this shitcake would be to have Roberts write the only dissent rather than Sotomayor.
The person who leaked this is a hero, imo. Too bad they are going to become a pariah in the legal profession.
Pretty cool democracy where candidates that received fewer votes than their opponents put 5 of the current justices on the court, when Dems couldnât even seat Merrick Garland. Lol at ever voting for the Dems again in my lifetime.
Youâre almost certainly getting nine separate opinions on this one.
I wouldnât be surprised if the speculation that this was leaked by someone on the anti-abortion side ends up being true.
What would be their motive?
We just need a President whoâs bold enough to play their strict textualist game and say âwell actually, the Constitution doesnât say anything about judicial review so all SCOTUS opinions on Constitutionality are merely advisoryâ. You lose abortion (already gone) and some other good stuff, but you get back campaign finance laws, the VRA, gun laws, probably clear out a whole shitload of rulings tilted towards businesses and the cops too. So many shitty rulings in the last few decades I canât even come close to remembering them all. It also very nicely solves the problem of random district court judges issuing nationwide injunctions based on who paid to get them on the court/their feels.
It would probably lead to utter chaos but our system of government needs a page one rewrite anyway so whatever. And hey, if they want their precious power back they can write and ask their Congresspeople to amend the Constitution like the rest of us.
