Abortion is an economic issue.

People vote on emotion and they want to be part of a winning team. Dems offer absolutely nothing on either front.

Itā€™s not something that most people feel in their pocketbooks.

Bruce is just doing is normal idiot edgelord routine.

What do you imagine happening here?

There will be no major protests, no major policy action from dems, no move on packing SCOTUS, no call to end the filibuster and Biden will still make lots of speeches about working with his gop buddies.

No, Iā€™m not. Iā€™m very serious about this. The failure of the Democratic Party has been to prefer neoliberals who support abortion rights over economically leftist and populist politicians who might be moderate to conservative on culture war issues.

Had I continued down the path towards a career in political science, proving this would have been the focus of my career.

All that will happen is more left leaning people will leave states under R control ceding further electoral power to the right.

There will definitely be protests after the actual decision comes out. Not sure what youā€™re going to accept as ā€˜majorā€™.

Only thing they can really try is make it legal at the federal level. Iā€™m not even sure it would work legally, but I donā€™t know. Maybe they try it.

What else can they do? In states where itā€™s legal, nothing changes. In states where itā€™s not legal, dems are a minority and canā€™t do major policy action. What would you propose?

Well, Manchin is a no, so thatā€™s dead.

See above.

Agreed.

Your willful ignorance is so boring. It was already pointed out the completely obvious fact that access to abortion is a massive economic issue.

It literally involves healthcare and labor rights, for starters. Is that economics?

Not to mention thereā€™s probably not much that has a greater economic impact on someoneā€™s life than having a child.

Please tell me you donā€™t have a daughter

How many votes do you think they have to nuke the filibuster for it? Iā€™m guessing 44-46.

Manchin is pro-life and supports the Hyde Amendment. I wouldnā€™t count on him coming to the rescue here.

This has been a decades long plan of the federalist society.

Iā€™m here for when Uncle Clarence votes to invalidate his own marriage.
