I heard on a podcast that the JSA is running out of money so theyāre going to roll the dice and hold the basho and hope no one dies from COVID this tourney. I dunno, seems like they ought to be able to ask for a grant from the government or something.

Four days in and the basho is already turned upside down. Takakeisho forgot to bring his legs with him to this tourney for his Yokozuna run. Looks like itāll come down to either Daieisho or Akiseyamaāprobably the latter.

Almost happened, as he did stomp everyone in his path down the stretch, but Daiesho was not to be denied.
Now can we please get some Yokozuna and healthy Ozeki back so we can have a proper basho for once?
Iām only just now learning about the giant macaron award that the ambassador of France gives out for some reason.

You gotta keep watching the yusho ceremony beyond the presentation of the Emperorās Cup. Thereās always intense speculation about what flavor itāll be.
Yeah, I wish I could see all the closing ceremonies. Neither NHK nor the pirate sumo discord I follow shows them.
NHK in Japan usually goes at least until the macaron.
I only have access to it through their sumo highlights webpage, or at least if I donāt want to watch at 3AM or whatever.
