Now THAT is a piece of kinetic wrist art. Christmas is right around the corner friends.

Dudes will see a sumo wrestler in London wearing a Patek Philippe and be like “hell yeah.”

Endo has retired. Inevitable as he has dropped down to Makushita due to injuries.

Yeah one of the few who never adopted a shikona.

Speaking of shikona, Kusano is now Yoshinofuji.

One would never guess that one of the people in this picture was a former sumo wrestler, and an Ozeki no less, two years ago.

I assume it’s the guy in the middle with the giant head.

Tirzepatide is a hell of a drug.

Seriously though, is there speculation or even knowledge of whether he used any GLP-1s?

Have never heard him say as much or even heard it suggested in the media, but that doesn’t mean that he hasn’t used it. It’s such an incredible transformation that I wouldn’t be surprised if he has.

Although in past interviews while he was still active, he always talked about how he had to force himself to eat so much to maintain his sumo body, so maybe being huge didn’t come naturally to him at all and once he reverted to a normal lifestyle, he simply shrunk back down to regular human size quite easily.

Sumo dudes lose weight crazy fast because a normal-ass Japanese diet is healthy.

Well there are aspects of the Japanese diet that are healthy, but Japanese do eat a lot of junky food as well: tempura, tonkatsu (fried pork), ramen, kara-age (fried chicken), lots of bread & pasta, etc. etc., not to mention copious amounts of alcohol.

But portion sizes tend to be a fraction of those in the US, so at least that helps quite a bit.

In any case, going back to a regular diet is way different than the “chanko” sumo diet in terms of sheer calories consumed, so yeah, significant weight loss should be expected.

These guys go from deliberately doing everything you’re not supposed to do for weight control to a normal Japanese diet, the weight loss is amazing but not too surprising.

Kyushu Basho is on!
