It’s at least an improvement over the old Nagoya arena, but yeah, given how badly heat was a problem before you’d think they would have made sufficient AC a top priority.
It’s turning into an interesting basho. Four left in the yusho race*, and for one of them (probably Aonishiki), it’ll be a first-ever yusho.
*Edit: The torikumi committee arranged today’s matches so technically those at 9-4 are still in it, so a prior winner is still possible though unlikely.
Didn’t pick Kotoshoho to yusho at the start of this basho but good for him. Was a strong prospect when he first came up but got derailed by injuries.
Loving all the drama and the new rikishi in this basho.
Yeah, Kusano. Fujinokawa. Even the new champion’s younger brother with the spectacular pre-match leg raise.
And let’s not fail to mention the old guard of Tamawashi (11-4) and Takayasu (10-5). And if Wakatakakage can put together a 12-3 basho next time, we might be looking at our next Ozeki.
Sumo is in a good place.
NHK app spoiled it, I’m a little behind and the day 15 thumbnail appeared and fucking ruined it
Hate when they do that.
anyway, lots of kinboshi this basho eh
Kotoshoho’s dad:
This has to be some kind of world record.
what the hell
Takakeisho’s son posing for a photo with two recently retired sumo wrestlers.
the translated caption doesn’t seem to match the picture
is that Aioyama and miyogiru?
It is they.
That dude was on reverse Ozempic.
Aki Basho begins today! Thank god we have 15 glorious days of sumo to distract us from the insanity of the world.
Over/under on # of Hoshoryu bouts before inevitable kyujo?
god the NHK World app is hot garbage
the only way to watch
