Dumpster fires are infrastructure.
Maybeā¦but it seems good that they moved it along quickly, with 50 votes, including Manchin and Sinema.
I expect the bill to end up pretty decently. Unlike the covid relief bill the progressives have leverage with the bi partisan bill
I assume it will have to cycle back once the house passes and the have to reconcile differences in the reconciliation bill. Some stuff the house progressives change?
Where did you read that? Almost everyone expected reconciliation bills to pass.
The bi partisan bill is shocking but makes sense when you realize how much the narrative benefits republicans and nukes any even small chance at voting rights
Iām still pretty WAAF re: voter rights stuff, but universal preschool would be transformative legislation if we can get it passed. It would take a pretty heavy burden off of lower and middle-class parents while also significantly upgrading early childcare for the most vulnerable - with subsequent carryover effects for decades. Way overdue, IMO, but Iāll take it.
No Census IGT?
I very much thought theyād torpedo the 3.5T reconciliation. Thereās still time for them to whittle it down, and itās still nowhere close to Bernieās original proposal, but Iām pleasantly surprised.
Yeah thereās a lot of good things in this bill. Like I said itās a great going away present for democracy
fyp
I support demographic change.
Will be interesting to see how much of the shift is undone by Covid

Come on man, weak sauce. Whereās my carp on crack and LSD for sparrows studies?
Is there anyone who is honestly going to base their vote on whatās happening to non Americans in Afghanistan?
Americans should also know that the money for āroads and bridgesā will ALSO pay for things like a $10 million program to ābenefit pollinators on roadsidesā or a $250 million program to remove āinvasive plants.ā
Ummā¦good?
I had the same thought, but itās been a bigger-than-usual disaster in Afghanistan for weeks now, and rightwing media has to my knowledge been pretty mum about it. Kinda makes sense that it wouldnāt get traction though. Most Americans donāt care about Afghans dying, let alone self-declared āAmerica Firstā rightwingers. Trump seemed to favor full withdrawal himself, but lacked the political will to get it done. Could become a bigger story if (maybe closer to āwhenā at this point, sadly) the Taliban takes Kabul and the government.
The Taliban was just biding their time, amassing weapons, personnel, etc.
Why waste their resources against the US when they could just wait for them to leave.
There will be ads about it and talking heads will get a lot of mileage talking about it but itās pretty well-documented that voters donāt give a shit about foreign policy unless Americans are dying
but they will nevertheless use it as a smokescreen when they vote for low taxes and against minorities/gays/immigrants anyway.
