Democratic senators also introduced amendments to the resolution. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), chair of the Senate Finance Committee, offered an amendment expressing support for tax increases on the nationā€™s richest 0.1%. The measure failed after Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), and Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) joined every Republican in voting no.

Maggieā€™s vote will really help drive turnout when sheā€™s about to lose to their self-proclaimed ā€œTrump guyā€ governor in 15 months.

Christ how embarrassing to live in this shithole backwards thinking state.

With a state motto of ā€œLive Free or Dieā€? Yeah, thatā€™s a big ole no.

New Hampshire doesnā€™t get nearly enough blame for the 2000 presidential election.

This seems really good?

It almost by definition canā€™t be. Bipartisan support signals that this is an agreement that will do the least damage to powerful interests, which are rarely aligned with the greater social good.

Which is not to say it will be universally bad. There will probably be a lot of projects that get funded that will do some good. But as we are all aware, the problems we are facing as a society are fucking massive and urgent. Repairing bridges and funding some environmental restoration projects are nice, but not nearly what the moment is calling for.

I think what Iā€™m getting at is that itā€™s pretty telling as to how beaten down we are that we can see these crumbs as being really good.

I mean I agree itā€™s nowhere near enough, but if they pass anything close to 3.5 trillion, with the bi partisan bill, thats 4 trillion in new spending and that is pretty good. Best thing this country has done in 30+ years.

Yeah we need the Green New Deal, M4A, and a TON of other shit, but 4 trillion ainā€™t nothing. If it wasnā€™t for the fact that voting rights are getting completely curb stomped and weā€™re about to enter a decades+ long era where democrats at the very least canā€™t secure all three branches again, so best case scenario is nothing gets done for 10+ years, Iā€™d say this is a really good sign that weā€™re at least passed the austerity age where politicians cried constantly about not spending money and not being able to afford shit.

Like if we got HR 1 and we actually had a future, Iā€™d say itā€™s super encouraging even the shitlibs are now ok with spending a ton of money and it was a huge step in the right direction, even if it still sucks and we still needed to primary 90% of them.

Isnā€™t the 3.5 trilly a Dems only bill?

Yes and presumably Manchin or Sinema will steer it into the ditch last minute for ā€œconcessionsā€.
