Please only strike in ways that donā€™t disrupt or cause any kind of economic impact. Thanks.

My first management job involved supervising a small group of specialists at a telco. They did very different work from most of the team and took pride in that work.

They were however also part of the union.

There was a potential strike coming up, and I called a meeting to talk about how we could find ways to avoid disrupting our clients during the strike.

One of the old guys had to politely pull me aside and very apologetically tell me that disrupting the business was the whole point of going on strike.

Not sure how this bullshit gets thru congress unless they rely on GOP votes, absolutely shameful shit here. Would love to see Chuck, Nancy and Joe eat shit on this.

how many sick days are we talking about here? how far apart are they?

they currently have 0ā€¦ the plan on the table biden is pushing gives them 0. they apparently DO have pto, but it canā€™t be used last minute, and a lot of their vacation needs to be a full year ahead.

bernie says heā€™s a no unless they do a roll call vote on 7 days.

This is slavery. There should be no debate. A job without weekends, sick days, accrued vacation time, and the like is flatly illegal.

Well at least we got student loan forgiveness, kids arenā€™t in cages, a public option for medicare, arenā€™t still building the wall, the Supreme Court isnā€™t in shambles, women still have a federally protected right to abortion and all the rest. Canā€™t win them all.

Interesting things happen when you are able to present a credible threat to wreck the economy.

This just seems unfathomable. Was the current deal negotiated in the 1800s?

railroads basically exist outside of ā€œnormalā€ us law

True, but what good is it if itā€™s not usable to get a damn paid day off if you wake up with 103 fever or something (Iā€™m assuming the idea is that right now they just get docked a dayā€™s pay if they call out)?

Iā€™d assume that scenario would be C, but your average flu/COVID/stomach bug/etc.that keeps you out for a few days is probably met with a ā€œlol fuck you itā€™s your fault for getting sick anyway just take a bunch of Advil and shut up and come in if you want to get paidā€ or whatever.
