There is simply no fucking way this ends any way other than BBB not passing or being (even more) completely gutted. Shame on the progressive caucus, this is indefensible. If Joe is so sure he can get the votes, he needs to get the votes. Before progressives abandon all their leverage. They’re obviously smart enough to know this, so who knows what the fuck they are doing.

I’m undergoing some weird inner psychotic drama right now that one day might have a name for it aka prisoner’s dilemma et.al. In a twisted perverse way, I have this desire to see Democrats lose every fucking congressional seat possible. I want it to be 435-0 and 100-0 Republicans in the house and senate. I’ve come to hate these impotent, stupid, useless Democrats with all my soul. To the point where it’s like fuck it. Let’s all commit Harry Carry and vote Republican and watch the whole shit house go up in flames

Fair point but I feel like this particular thing getting jammed back into the bill isn’t any kind of a real outrage generator. Of the tiny sample size of online friends who live in cheaper parts of the country, with whom the subject has come up of my paying 10x-20x what they do for property taxes, they had all pretty much been relieved to hear I could at least deduct that against my federal. Most people just kinda see that as fair.
Dems finding a way to get SALT back but not provide paid leave because how will we pay for it and not raising taxes on billionaires sort of says it all. Why on Earth would anyone go out of their way to support these people?

Gonna help people vote Dem in NJ, CT, CA, and MA, not sure I care much.
EDIT: Depending on how retroactive it is, might end up being the most expensive thing in the bill, and it is a tax cut for the wealthy. Given Manchin is still negotiating and focused on costs, what programs will we be cutting further in order to pass SALT? What do we all think progressive voters who turned out in Georgia should do come midterms when they dont have paid leave, medicare expansion, or a host of other promised policies but hey we got motherfucking SALT reform?

I won’t say it’s the biggest help ever, but there are definitely some purple house districts in CA and NY that this would help.
If they deliver SALT relief and push stand alone BIF votes to cut off the legs of the progressives, I just dont really care that much. Its pretty good for them I guess. Biden and full Dem control resulting in a massive tax cut for the wealthy not really what I had on my bingo card, so, just a bit surprised, especially given we cant afford paid leave and other important programs.
